Kitty had not understood why Wisdom kept insisting on Constantine as their best hope of getting away. She found out the next day, but she had no idea how he'd done it, after being assured by both men that John had no powers. She retained only confused fragments of memory about their trip with John after leaving his flat the next morning, disjointed glimpses of buses, the tube, airports and airplanes, and constantly shifting crowds of people. After what felt like a very short time, she suddenly found herself standing on a curb in front of a terminal building at JFK, waiting with others in line for a cab as the two men made their farewells. She worried briefly about the reaction to Lockheed, whom she held in her arms, until John swaggered over to kiss her goodby and assured her breezily that no one would be aware of Lockheed's presence until she and Wisdom had reached their destination. And he was right, both the cabbie and the people around them all seemed oblivious to the small purple dragon.

And, eventually, the cab dropped them off at the imposing main gate of Xavier's Westchester mansion, and Kitty went to ring the bell...
