"THE EPILOGUE TO THE EPILOGUE" "Wot?!" Pete questioned, clueless as to why the inhabitants of the mansion were earnestly staring at him. Kitty, fortunately, had the common sense to tie Pete's shirt around her once again. Her head hung downward, allowing her chocolate colored hair to cover at least a bit of her face, which was now burning an incredibly intense shade of red. The ear- piercing sound of the fire alarm was still screaming throughout the kitchen, but it didn't cover up Logan's gruff comment to Storm. "See, 'Roro," he said with a chuckle, "I told you our little Cat's grown up!" Impossibly, Kitty's face turned brighter. "Will someone please shut that damn thing off?!" Pete shouted over the cacophony. When he received no reply save exasperated looks from Ororo, Bishop, Brian, Warren, Bobby, and the Professor and wicked smiles from Rogue, Remy, Betsy, Meggan and Logan he took matters into his own hands (or rather fingers) and shot a slew of hotknives towards the small alarm, which sputtered and died within seconds of contact. "Finally," Pete muttered, exasperated. Suddenly, two people burst through the door. "We just got here from the boa--," Scott began before he was struck down by the rather awkward sight that lay before him. "Oh my--" was all he could stammer. "WOT?!" Pete asked again, still clueless. "We got here as soon as we could," rang a thick Scots burr from outside of the kitchen. Kitty's eyes opened wide. "Oh please, no, not Rahne!" she thought. "Are ye alrig---?! OCH!!!!" "Someone catch Rahne! She just fainted!" Domino calmly walked towards Pete and bent down to pick his pants off of the floor. "You might want these," she said as she gestured to the pants. Pete slipped them on and then looked around the kitchen, finally realizing what it was that had gotten everyone in such a shocked state. "Oh, God." he muttered as he rolled his eyes. "Grow up, all o' you! It ain't like you've never seen one before!" Betsy's lips twisted into a mischievous grin. "Not one quite so--" "Betsy!" came the shouts from every person in the room. "Uhm 'ahem'", Xavier tried to clear his throat. "I suggest everyone leave immediately and get a good night's sleep." he announced. "And may we never speak of this again," he added silently. "NOW!" rang the stiff mental command after he realized no one was moving. The shuffle of feet and murmur of voices signaled the exits of most of the inhabitants of the mansion. "No way am I eating breakfast tomorrow. Like rabbits, them two are," Bobby smirked. "GROW UP, DRAKE!" came the simultaneous reply of every person in the kitchen. After everyone had finally left, Kitty's face returned to it's usual color and she gave Pete a look that screamed "We are never going to here the end of this." They walked across the kitchen floor to each others arms and gave each other a supporting embrace. Neither of them noticed when a blonde head with elven ears stuck her head through the door. "Kitty?" Meggan called through the dark. "Yeah?" Kitty meekly replied, a lump in her throat. "I think you and Pete won the bet." And they laughed. THE END
