Douglas Ramsey's Diary [18/18] by Benway Warning: This story is not very nice, but then the world isn't very nice either. If want escape, read elsewhere. This story is not intended for children of any age. Some characters in this story belong to Marvel. Everything else belongs to me. *************************************************** August 11/89 We are moving to a new town called Salem Centre, where Dad has a new job as a lawyer at this private school. I couldn't go back to my old school again. I had forgotten everything since Mom got sick, but then, when I was helping Mom with the shopping last week, I heard a mother say the words "shut up you little bugger" to her kid and I remembered Glenn and Dave and almost lost it. When we got home, I tried to remember where I saw the diary, and found it in the garbage outside. I read it, and I couldn't believe what had happened to me. Someone doesn't want me to remember, and I don't know why. It has to do with the dreams. Last night, I dreamed that I was standing by a stream next to a knight in gold and black armour. The knight pointed to a castle that was on a rock floating in the air above the ground. He asked me if I would help him save the world from an evil demon by helping him take the castle. I said that I would, but I really didn't feel it was all my choice. The knight took a dirty, torn cloak from my shoulders and threw it into the air, where it burned away to nothing. This is your past he said, and suddenly I was wearing the same golden and black armour as the night. Now onward, he told me, into the future. Somewhere down inside, I could See that this wasn't my choice but I don't know why. I am mailing this dairy (locked of course) to you in the hope that if anything bad happens to me, someone can find out why. If I do not get it away from me now, I think that I will destroy it. But somehow, it won't be my choice. Douglas Winfield Ramsey, August 11, 1989 **************************************************
