Christmas Chaos by aino Author's note: This is my first x-men fanfic. it sort of takes place outside of all continuity, as I just recently started reading comics again and have no idea in hell what I missed. All constructive critisicm appriciated, especially suggestions for a more orignal title! I actually wrote this during Algebra class, so if there's any major typos, chalk 'em up to taking notes and writing 'fics at the same time... This is one of my weirder ideas, so please don't get scared, i'm not always this strange.. *I love free coffee days in the bookstore...* Merry Christmas! -aino (aerith@airmail.net) disclaimer: Pretty much everyone in here belongs to Marvel Entertainment. The only exceptions are Gwen and Isolde Abernathy, who I made up, and are totally mine. Please don't steal them. Anyway, I'm not making any money off of this, and suing me would probably result only in a nasty legal mess, so please don't. Things in *--*s are sound effects or pauses. CHRISTMAS CHAOS Part One New York, New York, USA 4:21 AM *Ring!!!!!* *RIIIINNNGG!!!* Betsy Braddock woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. Being awoken by a phone is a very obnoxious way to be woken up, and she was very reasonably annoyed by it. She glanced at the clock radio- 4:23 AM- and wished whoever was on the other end of the phone would go back to bed. *RIIINNGG!!!* They didn't. Finally, Betsy sighed, and picked up the phone. "If this is not a life-threatening emergency situation which requires my immediate intervention-" "Betsy! Thank God!" It was her twin brother, Brian, who was in England with the superhero team Excalibur, as far as she knew. "Brian? It's too early in the morning to be in trouble." "No, honestly, Betsy, you HAVE to help me!!!" Brian sounded like he was about to break down and cry. Betsy rolled her eyes. Men. "What is it?" "These-these-these! THese PEOPLE!!!" "Brian, calm down. You're being silly. What on earth is going on over there?!!" "It's these bloody kids!" "Isolde and Gwen?" "Yes! They're driving me crazy!" "Brian, they're eleven years old. They can't cause that much trouble." "They put bleach in Kurt's shower, and now he has white spots. They -wrapped- Lockheed in Christmas paper, and we had to unwrap every single gift under the tree to find him. Stop laughing!!" "I'm not laughing." *Sound of the phone dropping.* "ISOLDE BRADDOCK ABERNATHY! GET OFF THE PHONE, NOW!" "Sorry Uncle Brian. Sorry, Auntie Beth." Isolde said, not sounding very sorry. *sound of the phone hanging up.* "See?!!" Brian said, sounding very annoyed."They've been doing stuff like that all day!!" Betsy gave a long suffering sigh. "Fine. Is Gwen there? I have an idea." "Okay. Just don't give her any more mean ideas, okay?" ((In the background.)) "Gwen, your aunt wants to talk to you....Hey! put the coffee pot back together this minute!... ok, YOU do it, then, Isolde." *Brian hands the phone to Gwen.* "Good morning, Auntie Beth." "Morning, Gwen. How are you?" "I'm fine. Isolde's crying because Uncle Brian yelled at her. Can we come stay with you?" "Well, maybe. Would you like to?" "Yeah!" *Sound of the phone dropping. Brian picks it up a second later.* "I don't know what you said to her, but it seems to have worked." "Yeah, well, they're going to come and stay with me for Christmas." "Woohoo! They'll be there as soon as I can get them and all their stuff in the runner!" *Brian goes off to join Isolde and Gwen in their victory dance..* Yes... I know it's vaguely boring... it's going to get a lot more interesting though....
