                            "Le child horrer"

Ocy-dokey artichokey, this is (another ) fan-fiction about the New Mutants.
It's main character is Rahne, but later in the story Magik becomes a main
player in the predicament. By the way, these characters are copyrights of
Marvel Comics and were used without permission for my own selfish needs. Ok,
I'm done now


                    Chapter One-Moon of the Wolf


            Rahne tip-toed down the hall, looking in every room as she went.
When she passed Illyana's room, she noticed the clock. 2:00 am it said.
"Good" she thought to herself. She quietly crept downstairs to the first
floor, and peeked into Magneto's open door . She quitely giggled as she saw
the master of magnetism asleep with three fingers in his mouth.
             Having made sure everyone was asleep, she went to the window
nearest to the blind spot in the school's surveillance system. She opened it
and leapt out. The height between the window and the ground was about three
feet, and when Rahne felt the ground under her feet, she was covered in fur
with cat's eyes and very pointy claws. Faster than humanly possible, she
scampered into the woods, leapt into the air and relied on her wolfine
instinct as she closed her eyes.
              It was a joy to watch her, or at least it would've been if
anyone was there. She jumped from tree to tree, branch to branch, and limb to
limb. She stopped to catch her breath and noticed that directly below her was
a small white rabbit.
              Suddenly something came over her, like that feeling you get in
your stomach when the principal calls out your name and asks you to step into
his office. Then she felt her mind and body being seperated, and something
else was in control, something different, something evil.
              Rahne didn't know rabbits could scream.

Chapter 2- The Morning After

        Rahne woke up from the horrible nightmare, wiped off her brow and
decided that there was no way she was going to get any more sleep, so she
hurridly got up and went down to join her fellow classmates for breakfast.
        "H'lo all" she mumbled, and went looking into the fridge.
        "Hi" Illyana said, not looking up from the Sunday comics. "Hey Rahne,
are you going to chur..."
        "What? What is it?" Rahne said, spinning around. Magik wasn't there.
Where'd she run off to?" she said aloud.
        Then she was back, with Magnus. "Look at her! Look at her!" she
screamed.
         Magnus spoke calmly and carefully, "Rahne, I'd like you to come with
me into my office, please."
         "What's wrong with both of ye?" Rahne said, a bit frightened. Just
then Dani walked in, took one look at Rahne and screamed.
         It was then Rajne realized what they were all staring at. She looked
down and stared at the blood splattered on the front of her nightgown. Rahne
let out a scream of pure terror at the realization of what she'd done.
          She didn't even she the black tendril of energy coming from Illyana
until it overed her eyes and blacked her out.

Chapter 3

      "Now tell me again. You weren't responsible for this?" Magnus asked. He
was referring to the pile of animal carcasses in the pile of Ranhe's room.
      "Nae! I did nae such thing!" Rahne said through tears, "I thought it was
a dream, but now I realize it wasn't, only I wasn't in control!"
      "So you woke up, and despite the pet cemetary over there and your
white-turned-red nightshirt, you thought that the actual mass-slaying of
animals was just a dream?" Magik asked. Then she added "You think that a girl
with wolfine senses would notice something so gruesome only 5 feet away."
       "Illyana! Enough! Make yourself useful and wake up Shan, she might be
able to help us."
       Illyana scurried off, and Rahne asked, frightened, "What are ye going
tae do tae me?"
       "I'm going to have Shan posses you partially and see if she can locate
anthing out of the ordinary."
        Shan walked into Rahne's room and said "You rang?"
        Magnus only said "Work your magic, Shan."
        And those were the last words she heard.

Chapter 4- The journey inside
 
        When Shan opened her eyes, Illyana and Magneto were both leaning over
her, Illyana with worried eyes, and Magneto with that Magneto-Look.
        After she was a little more lucid, she explained what had happened,
"When I connected with her, I felt something else, something not good, and
definitely something I could not posses or take control over or expel in a
million years. What I'm saying guys, is that this is way out of my league."
        Helping her up, Magneto said, "Go down to the infirmiry and rest,
I'll send Sharon down to take a look at you." Shan just mumbled in reply.
        "Well, if Shan can't do it, there is one alternative..." he said,
turning an eye to Illyana.
        "Oh man, why do I get stuck with the dirty work?" she whined.
        "Listen closely Magik," Magneto said, "if Rahne's problems were to
escalate, even you with your magikal defenses would not be able to protect
yourself until too late..."
         "Say no more, Maggie." Illyana spouted, and before Magnus could
chide her for using the term "Maggie", both her and Rahne had disappeared 
in a circle of white light.


Chapter 5- How low can you go? (yes i am serious)

      Rahne knew what was coming, and even thogh she knew Magik's jaunts were
next to instantaneous, it seemed to be forever before they finally reached
limbo.
      "Och," she muttered "couldnae ye jus find another dimension to use yer
powers? One that isn't evil?"
     "Quit mithering," Illyana said, mimicking Rahne's accent, "and sit down,
you might as well be comfortable. Since you're so afraid of all the 'evil'
running around, this should put your fears to rest." As she said this, she
gestured, and both of them were surrounded by pale blue light. "It's a
force-field" she said as an answer to Rahne's unasked question, "It'll keep
out the demons. Now, let's get to work." With that, Magik held out her hands
a few inches away from Rahne's face, and tendrils of black magik slowly crept
around her. It reminded her of an Indian snake charmer, the way she
controlled those slithery things. She tried to hold in shudders when one
touched her forehead. That's when the screaming started.
        With Illyana, it was pain and fear, but with Rahne, it was joy.


Chapter 6- Changes

        The demons heard the screaming. Some of them even ventured close to
the place it came from. From the distance, they saw a little girl in armor,
and another little girl wearing a wolf's body.
         Zoom in a little and you could see faces, or at least features. The
girl in armor had horns, a tail and striking red hair, the wolf girl had blue
eyes. Go in closer and you could hear conversation:
         "Oh crap!" said the wolf girl, aka Illyana Rasputin.
         "Look what ye did now!" said the other girl in armor, aka Rahne
Sinclair.
          They stood up and took a look at each other, and burst out
laughing. It was nervous laughter, though. A lot of questions were running
thru Illyana's mind. How would they get home? Magik hadn't even mastered her
powers yet, so how could Rahne possibly do it?
           Rahne was thinking the same thing too. She was just about to voice
her doubts when the threat to them all became apparent.
           He was very tall, built and wore a skin-tight black suit with a
red diamond on the chest, and an identical one on his forehead. Ha had
off-white skin and an aura of evil around him. They knew who stood before him
in an instant: Nathaniel Essex, aka Mr. Sinister!!!


Chapter 7

       They didn't give him a chance to say two words. Rahne instinctivly
leaped into the air, and fell flat on her face. Magik outstreched her hand,
and just kind of stood there.
        It was then Sinister spoke,"Children you're embarassing yourselves.
please, allow me to explain. it was I who took refuge inside Rahne, and for a
short period of time, I was controlling her actions," Magik and Wolfsbane
were listening now, "but when Magik reached out and tried to expel my
prescence, the combination of my abilities and her mystical power somehow
created an interesting anomally. If you'll be so kind as to give me a chance,
I'll reverse it."
        "And jus' why should we trust ye?" Rahne said bravely,"You took
control over me once, how do we know ye will nae work yer black magic again?"
        "You have my word, child." Sinister said gently. A flash of green
light, a weird sucking sound and a felling of nausea later, everybody was
normal again. It was then Illyana asked the question that had been on both
their minds: "Why did you take control over Rahne in the first place?"

                           You can't even guess what happens next!
