Twentieth Century:
Near an isolated test site in the New Mexico desert, strange lightnings
trace their way across the sky.
In the deepest depths of a computer network that terminates in a modem
hook-up manipulated by a young blonde woman wearing an odd head-set,
connections are made.
At a top-secret facility in New Jersey, a craggy-faced man with eyes like
black holes drops his cigarette as an illegal experiment is suddenly lit
with blue radiance.
Two men standing on a lone hill in Scotland fight with swords, and as one
dies, lightening is unleashed... in a way it has never been before...
A Toronto cop jumps off a building, knowing full well he can survive the
fall... and vanishes before he hits the ground.
The Far Past:
In a temple devoted to the goddess Hera, a priestess touches a consecrated
vessel, forbidden to all but the gods---and is consumed in a white light
that searches through the countryside, then vanishes... taking others with
it as it disappears.
The Far Future:
In the City on the Edge of Forever, the Guardian of Time blinks. The lone
device, last artefact of a vanished civilization, shows a million scenes at
once, then freezes as writing appears across its face, in its own language,
as well as Galactaspeak, English, Vulcan, Klingon, Romulan and Ferengi:
WE ARE EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. PLEASE STAND BY.
At the End of Time:
In the carpark of the only Restaurant at the End of the Universe, a man
curses as his satchel begins to beep. Reaching in to the bag with a certain
amount of dread, the wiry, oddly-dressed traveller exchanges weary glances
with his companion, a tall man dressed in a bathrobe. Both stare at the
Electronic Thumb the man has taken out of the satchel, which is now
blinking and bleeping for all its worth. "Don't tell me," the tall man
says. "Eddies in the space-time continuum again..."
"I think its a bit worse than that," the traveller says, shaking the
Thumb. "It might be a good idea to get out of here..."
And Everywhere, Everytime, Simultaneously:
The gates and barriers that separate various realities from each other
shake, bend like Jell-O... and rip, as travellers from each Universe
take an unexpected detour to one of the terminus points of all the time
streams.... where various other travellers have already arrived---
The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace.
It failed.
But in the year of the Shadow war, it became something greater.
Our last, best hope...for victory.
The year is 2260. The place...Babylon 5
