WARNING: THIS STORY CONTAINS SOME SCENES FOR MATURE AUDIENCE. SO WATCH IT.
"Dear Jimaine,
It's been two years now since you left and I haven't heard from you. I've written several letters and I haven't heard so much as a peep. The only thing that I can figure is that you've totally forgotten about me or that you're dead. Hopefully you are alive and well and happy. Where are you? I've felt lost for the past two years without you. Let me know something, please. Even if you tell me you've found someone and gotten married or something, I'll at least know that you're OK. It doesn't really matter, as you'll probably never get this letter either. All the same, I hope to see you soon.
Thinking of you,
Fuzzy"
Kurt places the letter in an envelope, as he has for all the other's he's sent in the past two years and sits in on his table, to be sent out tomorrow. He has a pretty sure feeling this time that it will never reach its destination. He get up out of bed and picks up a picture Jimaine and places his hand over it, "Why don't you ever write back to me or visit? Have you totally forgot about me? I was so fond of you." Kurt opens the top drawer of his chest of drawers and puts the picture inside. Feeling more than just a little hurt, he throws the drawer shut. Kurt opens the door to his trailer and walks out. With his arms crossed against his chest, he heads for a nearby pond to think. On his way, Jutta, one of the fire-eaters in Der Jamarkt, the circus Kurt travels with, catches up to him.
"Where you off to?" she asks, seeing his stormy face.
"Nowhere." he says coldly.
"Is something wrong?" she asks, trying to keep up with his rapidly increasing stride.
"No." he replies and then teleports away. Eric, Jutta's longtime boyfriend comes up behind her.
"Why are you just standing out here by yourself?" he asks putting a hand on her shoulder.
"I was talking to Kurt, before he teleported away from me." she replies, now a little upset with Kurt's gruffness. "He was heading in that direction," she points towards the path leading into the nearby woods, "and then poof." she finishes throwing her arms up in the air. Jutta walks away, leaving Eric completely confused. He looks back and forth from where Jutta is heading and where she said Kurt was going, but decides to go with his lady.
In the forest, Kurt is down on hands and knees, staring into a small pond.
"What was it? My face? My ears? My tail? What was it that made you so happy to be away from me?" He rolls over onto his back and lets his hair soak in the water. "Maybe I'll get lucky and a rasulka or perhaps a shark will come up and take my head off." He lies still and there he stays for the better part of an hour, before forcing himself to get up and perform his duties with the circus.
Der Jamarkt continues its travels for another year, moving from town to town. Occasionally they do get an invitation from one or two of the larger cities, but primary stayed with the smaller areas, to avoid the problems associated with large groups of people. They have arrived in a small town by the name of Dresden, on the southeastern border of Germany.
"Hey fur-ball," Stefen says, putting an arm around Kurt, "how does it feel to finally be 18? Now you can use that blue pointer down there as much as you like without too much worry." Stefen grins broadly and points down at the lower regions of his foster brother. Being a couple of years older then Kurt, he is already familiar with the uses of the male reproductive system.
"Stefen!?!" Kurt yelps, amidst a deep blush. "Just cause I'm legal now, doesn't mean I'm going to run off and jump on every woman I see!" Stefen laughs. "Come on brother, you can't tell me you haven't been looking at the women in this town."
"Yes, some of them are cute." Kurt admits, trying to maintain some form of dignity. Stefen jumps around in front of Kurt and puts his hands on his shoulders.
"Cute?! They're gorgeous! The woman body is a thing of unsurpassed beauty..." He pauses in thought. "Except for maybe the fat lady. But on the whole, women are beautiful. Let me show you." He tugs on Kurt's arm to follow him.
"All right, all right". Kurt gives in and the two brothers run off to the city to take a few peeks.
Another week passes and Franklin, ring-master and owner of Jamarkt is in the process of doing some hiring to expand the circus' acts. He plans on hiring another trapeze artist, assuming he can find someone qualified, some new clowns and maybe someone to shoot out of a cannon. He looks down at his paper a quickly scratches the cannon trick off his list of ideas.
After a couple of days of going over the applicant's histories and experience, he decides to hire three more clowns and one of the trapeze artists. He heads into town to meet his new performer. He arrives at a small house on the edge of the nearby town. Its nice size house, just enough for one person. He walks up and knocks on the door, looking down at the paper in his hand. A young woman opens the door.
"Hello, may I help you?"
"Hi, I'm Franklin from the circus. You're Celena Millian right?" he asks, looking at the young woman. She stands about 5'7" and has short black hair and dark-hued eyes. "I am interested in hiring you onto my circus, if you still want the job."
"Yes, of course I do. Thank you." she says quickly, obviously excited.
"Good. You'll be sharing a trailer with one of our bareback riders. We're moving on in about three days." he says. "I'll see you soon. I'll introduce you to everyone once you're settled."
"Thanks again, bye." she replies and waves as he walks away.
A couple of days later, there's a knock on Celena's trailer. She walks over and opens the door. "Hello, Franklin."
"How are you doing?" Franklin asks.
"Pretty good. Come in." she replies. Franklin comes in and looks around the trailer.
"I see you've got all you stuff moved in."
"Yes. I just finished." she replies, grinning at her somewhat cramped quarters.
"Good. Now, why don't I introduce you to everyone?" Franklin suggests, with a thumb pointing outside. Celena looks around the room.
"I've just about finished cleaning up, so I think that would be a good idea."
Franklin nods and heads for the door. He exits the trailer and Celena follows him. They walk over to the big top, where most of the performers are practicing. Franklin and Celena walk in and sees Jutta, Stefen, Eric, and Karnin, the strongman. Franklin squints his eyes and looks around the tent. He takes special notice to try and look into the shadows. After looking, he gets a concerned look on his face.
"Something wrong?" Celena asks.
"I'm not sure yet." he replies as they head over to the others. Eric turns and sees Franklin and the newcomer approaching.
"Hey there, Franklin. Is that your new girlfriend?"
"Fresh meat?" suggests Stefan.
"Hardly. This is Celena, she's our new performer. She's going to be working with Kurt on the high wire and trapeze." Franklin replies.
"Oh boy, someone else we can scrape off the ground." Stefen says, balancing a dagger on the tip of his thumb. Celena takes a step back and starts to worry.
"Don't pay attention to him." Franklin says putting an arm around her, "He's just kidding." Franklin takes another look around, "Does anyone know where Kurt is?"
"He said he was going to his trailer to lay down. He wasn't feeling very good." Eric says. Franklin shakes his head, obviously knowing what's wrong with him.
"Hard headed, thick-skulled..."
"What?" Celena asks.
"Nothing. We'll go see Kurt in a minute." After introducing her to everyone, they head for Kurt's trailer.
On the way, Franklin gives Celena some good advice. "Now, before you meet Kurt, I must warn you that he's going to look a little different." Franklin thinks a second. "Truthfully, he's going to look a lot different, but he just like the rest of us."
Celena looks both puzzled and curious. "How different?"
"You'll see." he says and knocks on Kurt's door. "Kurt, I have someone I want you to meet." Kurt's heart rate picks up slightly. He's always worried about meeting someone new.
"OK, come in." he answers. Franklin opens the door. Celena waits just outside of the door.
"Kurt, Eric said you weren't feeling good. What's wrong?" Franklin asks.
"Nothing, my stomach just bothering me." Kurt says, rubbing his stomach.
"When was the last time you ate something?" Franklin asks.
"Breakfast..." Kurt mutters, avoiding the ring-master's eyes.
"Well that wasn't to long ago." Franklin says.
"Two days ago."
"BREAKFAST, TWO DAYS AGO!! Kurt, what have a told you about not eating? You can't perform and work out the way you do without eating. You're going to mess your insides up!" Franklin yells. Kurt shakes his head with a "Yeah, yeah. OK, sure, fine, whatever" look on his face. "Celena, this is the stubborn mule I want you to meet."
Kurt sits up, excited to meet someone, especially being female. She is quite lovely and Kurt likes her all that much more. Celena walks in, gets a good look at Kurt, and his briefly perked spirits fall apart. Celena's expression said it all, even without the words. It's one that Kurt knows all to well.
'My God, what is this thing?' she thinks.
Kurt's excitement turned to shame and resentment as he turns his face away. Franklin notices both of their reactions,
"Celena this is Kurt. Kurt this is Celena, she's going to be performing with us now." Franklin says belatedly.
"Hi." Celena speaking to the ground.
"Hi." Kurt speaking to the wall.
"Celena, could you excuse us a minute?" Franklin requests, nudging the woman to the door.
"Sure." she says and stands outside the trailer. The image of the blue furred, pointed eared, devil tailed thing she just saw runs through her mind. She's not sure if she was imagining it or if she was having a bout of temporary insanity.
Inside the trailer, Franklin sits on the bed next to Kurt. "Come on Kurt, I thought you were over this by now."
"Over what? Constant rejection from everyone? It's gone on for 18 years now. Most people that get picked on at least start at age 5 or at least when they start voicing opinions. Not me. No, I was rejected the instant I was born. My own mother threw me away cause of what I am. What about her?" pointing out the window, "She was repulsed the second she laid eyes on me." he complains.
"Give her a chance, she'll adjust. You two are going to get to know each other very well. You'll have to help her practice on the high wire and trapeze." Franklin says.
"YOU'RE CRAZY! How can we work together when she can't even look at me. And I am NOT just some new color of paint that people need to 'adjust' to!" Kurt yells.
Meanwhile, Celena is outside and can hear Kurt's yelling. She feels guilty for reacting the way she did when she looked at him. She wraps her arms around her and leans against the trailer.
Franklin stands up. "You are blowing this way out of proportion. I thought for sure you would have worked past all this by now. I thought that you had come to term with your special appearance, but I guess I was wrong. I'm sorry she reacted the way she did. I hoped it wouldn't happen, but it did. Stay here and rest a while and get yourself together. I expect to see you at dinner tonight or I'll have Karnin help me hand feed you like Marion did when you were 7." Franklin leaves the trailer.
Kurt flops back on the bed and knows that Franklin isn't bluffing. He had force fed Kurt when he was 7, after going threw a major depression about his appearance. He had just lost his best friend, Christian, because of his devilish looks. Kurt had refused to eat, sleep or do anything. Marion, the strongman before Karnin, held Kurt down and Franklin forced the food down his throat. Margali approved and Jimaine had watched with concern. Kurt had been starting to get seriously thin and sick from not eating and it was to only way to get food in his stomach. It worked. Kurt swore never to go threw that again.
Outside the trailer, Franklin and Celena are heading back to her trailer.
"You OK?" Franklin asks.
"Not really. It was wrong for me to act the way I did when I saw Kurt. I didn't know what he had been threw. I heard everything you two said in there and I shouldn't have done it. I should go back and talk to him." she says.
"Not now, give him a little while. Maybe after dinner, when he's had time to calm down." he says.
"OK." she replies and goes into her trailer.
Later that night, everyone is gathering at the easily assembled plank-tables that they use every night for dinner. The only person missing is the newcomer, Celena. Everyone else is laughing and carrying on as they always do, waiting for the camp cook to bring out the food. That is until Celena comes in and Kurt sees her. His face goes from one of merriment, to one of hurt as he lowers it so that she can't see it. 'Maybe if she doesn't look at my face, she'll be able to eat without puking." he thinks. "OW!!" Kurt says as Eric rams his foot into Kurt's shin.
"Celena," Franklin says, "pull up a seat."
The only open spot seems to be at the table right next to Kurt. Celena sits down, a little cautiously.
"Hi, Kurt." she says, hoping that he won't instantly jump up and run out.
"Hi." he replies, with a quick glance. Eric proceeds to kick Kurt again. "Will you stop that?!" Eric doesn't reply and pretends he's not doing anything. A slight smile of amusement comes over Celena's face.
After a while, everyone starts talking again. It doesn't take to long for the laughter to resurface again.
"OK, "Franklin interrupts, "now that we've pretty much all gotten here and aquatinted again for another night, let's bring on the food.". The cook brings out a gigantic chicken, several bowls of vegetables, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. Along with numerous pitchers of milk, beer, and water. Franklin stands up with his glass.
"I want you all to welcome our new performer, Celena Millian. She will be working with Kurt on the high wire and trapeze.". Everyone waves, says hi and shakes hands with as many as she could reach, even Kurt's. "OK, enough of that. Dig in."
Afterwards, Celena sees Kurt heading for his trailer and walks over to him. She taps him on the shoulder.
"Kurt?"
"Yes?" he asks, turning around.
"I'm sorry for the way I reacted this morning. I wasn't prepared for it." she says and turns her head to the side, flushing slightly "It was childish. I'm sorry."
Kurt puts his hand on her arm. "Its OK, fraulein. I'm starting to get used to it, I think. I'm sure you heard the squabble between me and Franklin. I'm sorry too if I said anything to upset you."
"You had a right to be angry." she turns her head back and looks at Kurt. "Now that I look at you again, you are kind of cute." A smile comes over Kurt's face and they hug each other. "See you tomorrow?"
"Sure thing. Guten niche." Kurt says and they head for their separate trailer for the night.
The next morning, Franklin explain the routine for next week's performance.
"OK, Kurt, you and Celena will work on the trapeze routines." Franklin worries about the next few second, hoping that they worked out the problem. Kurt and Celena nod in agreement to Franklin's request. Franklin smiles thankfully. "Eric and Jutta, you two said something about being able to get your pyrotechnics into specific shapes like dragons and things, that would be amazing. Stefen, practice with your knife dummy and then after a while, Kurt can help you with it too."
"WAS!?" Kurt jumps.
"You always say that you like adventure." Franklin counters, "Here's your chance."
"I'm gonna learn one day to keep my mouth shut." Kurt sighs, knowing how wild his step-brother can be. Franklin turns and looks at Karnin.
"You were going to work on lifting a small wagon, right?"
"Right. One of those small ones shouldn't be to hard." Karnin says. "You can even keep those scrawny horses attached to it, if you want."
"Very funny. OK, lets get to work." Franklin says and everyone heads for the big top. Kurt and Celena immediately climb up the ladders to the top of the trapeze platforms. Kurt is at one end and Celena is at the other. They take the trapeze swings from their holding positions on the sides of the platforms.
Kurt calls over to Celena. "Franklin says that you've been doing this for quite a while."
"Yeah, at least 2 years." Celena replies. "Call it a hobby."
"OK. Let's start with the easy stuff and then work up from there." They continue working for several hours and make up a pretty good routine for the following week's performance.
Afterwards, Kurt heads over to where Stefen is still practicing with his dummy. He notices Kurt heading his way. He picks up one his knives and throws it at the dummy that is attached to a wooden board, several feet away. The knife strikes the dummy right in the head. Kurt stops and swallows hard.
'Oh great,' he thinks, 'my life is going to end at 18, having been killed by my own brother.' He continues over and stands next Stefen, "Hi, how's it going?"
"Quite well. Ready to have some fun?" Stefen laughs, making Kurt strongly consider running in the other direction.
"Fun." Kurt snorts. The two brothers head over to the board and take down the dummy. They both look at the knife in the head.
"Unfortunate." Stefen says. "It was his fault, I swear. He moved at the last second."
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Kurt asks, a little concerned.
"Trust me." Stefen answers, yanking the knife free.
"Ha." Kurt replies. They lay the board down and Kurt lays down on top of it. Stefen straps him down, in a spread eagle position. "Do we have to do this in this position?"
"Why, feel exposed? Besides, it's the safest for you." his brother says. Stefen props the board back up. "Hey, that would make a great target." Kurt wags the devil point of his tail, since its the only part of his tail Stefen didn't tie down.
"You're real funny Stefen." Kurt deadpans. Stefen walks back over to the podium where his knives are sitting.
"Hey everyone, come over here a watch me make Swiss cheese out of the Furball." Everyone comes over to watch and Kurt's worry goes to absolute dread. Stefen picks up the first knife and plops it right next to Kurt's head. With each knife, Kurt uses all his strength to resist teleporting out of there. Stefen lands one on the other side of Kurt's heads, one about his tail, one on each side of his chest and one next to each ankle. Kurt's heart is racing at this point. Stefen looks at his podium and sees one knife left and tries to decide where to put it. He looks over at Franklin with a very mischievous look on his face. Franklin knows what he's thinking.
"Stefen, behave." he says with amusement. Stefen looks back at Kurt with the same look. Kurt too knows instantly what he's going to do.
"Stefen, don't you dare!"
Stefen picks up the knife.
"Stefen." Kurt warns. Stefen tosses the knife up in the air and catches it by the blade. He hurls the knife at Kurt. Kurt watches the knife fly low and gasps. It lands just below Kurt's nuts. Kurt lets off a big sigh as Stefen turn and bows to the other performers. They laugh and applaud his antics. Stefen and Eric go over to help Kurt off the board.
"Are you all right?" Eric laughs.
"Ja, as soon as my heart slows down." Kurt turns to Stefen. "If you had been a centimeter off..."
"I never miss." Stefen cuts in. His braggart comment is also backed up by fact, the only reason Kurt stayed still for as long as he did. After the performance, everyone breaks for lunch. Afterwards, they return to continue preparing for next week's show. They are in a large town this month, so the show has to be extra special.
Over the following days, everyone continues to improve for the big show. Kurt and Celena work out a large routine, involving both the trapeze and the high wire. They plan to have the trapeze, attached just above the high wire. They plan to have Celena walk out onto the high wire and Kurt to swing by and take her with him. Then he'll transfer her over to the other trapeze, where she'll swing back to the opposite platform.
Lately, at the end of the night, Kurt's eyes are starting to follow Celena around. One night in particular, they are just finishing for the day and Celena is climbing down from the platform. Kurt watches her all the way down and out of the big top. He sighs deeply and then climbs down himself. At the bottom, Stefen is waiting for him.
"Hey there Furball, what're you looking at?" he smirks.
"Huh?" Kurt questions.
"Aw come on, don't play dumb. I see you glaring at Celena. One would think that you were falling for her, instead of just falling off the high wire." Stefen says, giving Kurt a playful punch.
"She's nice, I like her. I don't think that I've fallen for her, yet." he says, leaning against the ladder.
Stefen laughs. "Yet?"
"All right, I am attracted to her, but I don't think that she attracted to me. Who would be?" Kurt replies.
"Jimaine was." Stefen says, not joking around for once.
"No, she wasn't." Kurt sharply. "How could my foster sister be attracted to me? Besides, she's probably dead. She's never written back from wherever she went. I haven't heard from her for over 3 years. She might have had a teen crush or something, but nowhere near the fondness I felt for her."
Stefen just shakes his head and walks away.
Throughout the next day, Kurt isn't able to keep his eyes off her. All threw morning practice, he watches her every move. During lunch, his stare could have burned a hole threw her. Eric had to kick him a couple of times to keep him from being rude. As much as he watches her, he never sees her respond to it, but she is.
A couple of hours after lunch, Kurt is out in one of the nearby fields practicing his handstands. He has mastered standing on two hands and has just about perfected it on one hand. Just as Kurt raises one hand from the ground, someone comes up and grabs his ankles, causing him to almost loose his balance. Kurt looks up and sees Celena looking down at him.
"Hello, Kurt. How you doing?" she asks.
"Wunderbar." he says, getting a good view of every inch of her. She lets go of his ankles and he bounces back up to his feet. "What can I do for you?"
"I've seen you watching me." she says.
Kurt's face turns red. "Uh yeah." he stumbles. "I..."
"You are cute." she cuts him off, putting a hand on his face, caressing the soft fur.
"Would you like to join me for lunch tomorrow?" Kurt asks on impulse, eyes fastened on the tip of his tail.
"Sure, I would like that." she answers and gives him a light kiss on the cheek. She waves to Kurt and heads back to the big top. Kurt just smiles until she gets out of sight. After she's well gone, he starts flipping, bouncing and bamfing all over the field. Even though Celena can't see him, she can hear his whooping and hollering. She looks back in his direction and laughs.
After getting control of himself, Kurt runs to find Eric to let him in on the good news. He finds his best friend coming out of his trailer.
"Eric, guess what?!" he says excited. "She's going to have lunch with me tomorrow."
"Who?" he says, seeing Kurt's excitement.
"Celena! She even kissed me. It was on the cheek, but still, it was a kiss!" Kurt says.
Eric takes Kurt's hand. "That's great, I'm really happy for you."
"Thanks, mein fruend." Kurt says and runs off to tell Stefen.
Later that night, Kurt is in bed, but unable to sleep. He keeps watching the clock, hoping that the night would go by faster.
"I can't wait. My first date! Well, not really a date, just lunch but all the same." he rambles off as he turns a looks at the clock again. "1 am, I have got to get to sleep. No, I can't sleep. I'm too excited." Eventually, about 3 am, his body gives out on him and he does fall asleep.
The next morning, Kurt turns over and looks at the clock once again. He notices the time and sits straight up.
"Ten o'clock!? Mein Gott!" Kurt quickly jumps out of bed and starts to get ready for his big lunch date. After getting cleaned up and dressed, he hurries over to the cook tent to get some food for the picnic that he and Celena are going to have in a couple hours.
Noon finally comes around and Kurt is sitting in the field waiting for Celena. He has a nice blanket laid out on the ground with a nice arrangement of sandwiches and drinks set up. Kurt starts looking around the area, 'She's not going to come.' he thinks. 'I know she isn't. She's not coming.'. He looks up at the sun. 'Look, it can't be more than two minutes after twelve. I'd best calm down.' Another minute passes. 'She's not coming. I knew it.' He continues to look around, fidgeting with his tail, when someone comes up from behind and puts and hand on his shoulder.
"BOO!" she says. Kurt jumps about five feet in the air. "Hi there, cutey." The sight of Celena makes Kurt's heart jump into his throat.
"Huh, oh hi. How are you?" he says in-between gasps.
Celena giggles a little. "Fine. I didn't mean to scare you like that."
"That's OK. Have a seat.' Kurt says, gesturing to a good spot.
"Thank you." she replies and takes a seat next to Kurt.
“Celena, I.."
"I'm becoming very attracted to you Kurt." she interrupts.
"You are?" Kurt says with surprise. "I didn't think you were even interested."
"How could I not. You're incredibly handsome." she says.
"I... I'm attracted to you too. You're pretty and intelligent and I enjoy being around you." Kurt says, looking in her eyes. Celena smiles and gazes into his solid yellow eyes.
"I've never meet anyone like you. Under the blue fur and pointed ears, you're caring and gentle. I don't know how any woman could not fall for you." She leans over to him, noticing the nervousness in his eyes, and gives him a quick kiss. "Now lets eat."
By the end of lunch, Kurt and Celena lock up in a passionate kiss, "I bet you've never been kissed like that before." Celena says.
"No." Kurt simply answers, trying to control all the emotions running threw his body.
"I better be going. The show's only a couple of days away and I have a lot of practicing to do." she says. Kurt just nods as they kiss again. Celena gets up and waves to Kurt. "See you later."
"Bye." he replies. Once Celena is gone, Kurt lays back in the grass, smiling from one ear to the other. He stares off into the sky, thinking about everything that just happened. His first kiss, someone who loves him and will probably be around for a long time to come. A lot of images play threw his head, mostly of the fun that they will have together. After awhile of daydreaming, he falls into a very happy sleep.
Several hours go by and Stefen is looking around the circus ground for Kurt. He checks the big top and sees Celena practicing by herself. He checks Kurt's trailer, Steward (the circus doctor's) trailer and Franklin's office, nothing. He is now starting to worry. It wasn't like Kurt to go somewhere and not let anyone know. He starts looking around outside of the grounds and comes upon the small field where Kurt and Celena had their picnic. He sees Kurt laying in the grass, with blanket and food still laying out. Stefen goes over and shakes Kurt's arm.
"Kurt? Hey, wake up, Furball."
Kurt opens his eyes and puts his hand up to block the late day sun. "Mmm, I must have dozed off. What time is it?"
"Its almost dinner time and you've managed to miss an entire day's practice. What are you doing out here?" Stefen asks, sitting next to his brother.
"Me and Celena had lunch together. You're telling me, that I've been sleeping out here for five or six hours?" Kurt answers.
"Sure have. You two must of had some major fun out here. She really wore you out didn't she?" Stefen laughs, fishing for information.
"What are you talking about?" Kurt says, starting to clean up the mess.
"Come on, I know you two did it." Stefen says, knowing nothing of the sort, just giving Kurt a little push to start talking.
"We did not make love. All we did was have lunch." Kurt objects. He grins widely and grabs Stefen by the shirt. "She kissed me though. Not just on the cheek, I mean a real, deep, hard kiss." Kurt says and lets go of Stefen's shirt. Kurt leans back, looking to the sky again. "I'm in love."
Stefen jumps up and starts hollering. "Yes! Yes, Kurt has a girlfriend! Wha-Hoo!"
Kurt stands up. "Calm yourself, man! Help me clean up so that we can make it to dinner on time. Mom will drag me over the coals if I have to explain being late for dinner as well as this!" They quickly clean up the trash from the picnic and head back to the circus grounds. On the way, Stefen puts an arm around Kurt.
"Now you will finally get to put the fun parts to a better use then relieving yourself."
Kurt merely shakes his head to his brother's warped sense of humor.
Over the next few days, everyone continues to practice for the upcoming opening performance. As Kurt and Celena work together, their love and attraction for each other constantly growing. Several times, Kurt threatened to leave the circus and take her with him after a couple accidents injured her. Each time, either Franklin or Stefen was able to talk him out of it. Kurt and Celena spent many nights gazing at the stars and playing around out in the field. Finally, the night of the opening performance comes around. The show opens to a sold out crowd.
"This has to be one of the largest shows we've ever done." Franklin says, looking totally collected.
"I don't think that I've seen this many people in a long time." Kurt replies, relishing the chance to show off before so many people.
"I've never seen this many people." Celena adds, looking all around the big top, a knot of nervousness in the pit of her stomach. Franklin takes a look at his watch. "Its show time." he says and goes out to center ring.
Back off to the side, Kurt and Celena watch.
"Are you sure you're ready?" Kurt asks, holding Celena's hands.
"I'm ready." Celena assures him. Franklin finishes his opening announcement and the crowd cheers.
"That's our cue." Kurt says and gives Celena a kiss. They make their appearance with their usual gymnastic routine before heading for the trapeze. Kurt and Celena complete their performance on the trapeze without a problem. The rest of the show continues and by the end of the night, the crowd is screaming for more.
"THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING," Franklin says into the microphone, "THERE WILL BE ADDITIONAL SHOWS EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK. SO WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN." The crowd stands and applauds once again as Franklin walks away.
After the crowd leaves, Franklin and the others depart from the big top also.
"Well done, everyone." Franklin says. "They were really impressed."
"Karnin. How in the world did you lift that wagon with all those clowns in there?" Eric asks with amazement.
"Practice and luck." Karnin replies. Everyone else disperses to their trailers.
Celena puts an arm around Kurt. "Care to join me for a drink before you go?".
"Sure would." Kurt replies enthusiastically. One lone figure stays behind, leaning against a tree and watches Kurt follow Celena into her trailer.
"What would you like?" Celena asks, "I have beer, wine, and whiskey."
"Yuck. Beer makes me gag. How about the wine?" Kurt says. Celena agrees and opens the bottle. She pours them both a drink.
"You are extraordinarily handsome." she says placing her hands on the sides of his face. Kurt puts his arm around her waist and pulls her against him. Kurt's and Celena's lips meet, locking them in a very deep, passionate kiss. Twenty minutes and several more cups of the wine later, they are in Celena bedroom exploring each other's body. Free from the restraints of clothing, Celena reaches down and takes hold of Kurt. Kurt moans with pleasure of her hand caressing him. Being Kurt's first time making love, the experience is that much more exciting. Kurt slides his lips down, kissing Celena's chest and running his hands over her sides.
"Kurt..." she moans, "I'd swear you've done this before.". Celena flips them over, putting her on top. "Ready?"
"Very much so." he replies. Kurt gasps as the amazing flow of pleasure rushes over his body.
Outside the trailer, the person leaning against the tree laughs and shakes his head in agreement, watching the trailer shaking from Kurt and Celena's love making. He smiles and walk away.
Kurt collapses down on top of Celena, breathing heavily. She too tries to catch her breath and notices Kurt's sweat laden fur, "Oh Kurt...you are... good."
"Yeah... not bad... for a first time. You did most of work though." he replies between breathes.
"First time?" she says with amazement and gives him a big hug. "Did you enjoy it?" she asks, looking in his eyes. She wipes the sweat from his face, seeing the totally exhaustion pulling on him.
"I did." he says simply, giving her another kiss.
"You look totally beat." she says, rubbing his face.
"You would expect something else from the first time I make love?" he jokes. She agrees and they drift off to a very peaceful sleep.
The next morning, Kurt wakes up and see Celena staring right at him.
"Nice view, lover." she says. Kurt looks at her,
"Same from this angle, liebchen." he smiles.
Celena moves closer and places her hand on his thigh. "Have time for a quick one?"
"I wish I did, but if I don't get back and get cleaned up, I won't be any good for tonight's performance." he says, resting his head on her shoulder.
"After the show?" she asks.
"Sure, its a date." he laughs. Kurt gets up and puts on the clothes that got scattered all over the room the night before. Celena lays in bed, giving him plenty to look at. Kurt gives her a deep kiss and promises to see her later that night. He exits her trailer and heads for his own. As he walks, his mind constantly replays the events of the previous night. He remember the overwhelming flush of emotions, feelings and pleasures that went threw his body while he was making love with Celena. For once in his life he felt whole, like a real person that actually belongs in this world. He has finally found someone who has accepted him enough to make love with him. Though exhausted beyond anything he could have dreamed of, it was the greatest night of his life.
On the way, a playful punch causes him to jump. "Well, its about time! I thought you two were never going to do it." Stefen laughs.
"What are you talking about?" Kurt says, his thoughts still not right with the here and now.
Stefen puts an arm around his brother's shoulder. "I saw that trailer rocking last night. You must have been having a good time." Stefen says.
Kurt's face turns a little red. "It was quite good." he replies.
"Tell me. What all did you do? What did she do for you?" Stefen says excited.
"No, I'm not going to tell you everything we did." Kurt objects. Stefen laughs and pokes him in the side.
Stefen's face turns a little more serious. "So tell me. How do you feel? Do you feel good?"
"I do feel good." Kurt says, smiling.
Stefen pats him on the back. "Good. I'll catch you later." he says and walks away. Kurt opens the door to his trailer, but stops to watch Stefen walking away, knowing his brother does care for him a lot. He then looks toward Celena's trailer, feeling very good inside, then goes inside.
Over the following days, Kurt and Celena spend all of their time together. They work together, constantly stare at each other during dinner, along with her foot wandering under the table. They always have lunch out in a field if they can and spend many nights together. Celena, of course, stays with the circus and travels all around Europe with them. Many of the towns and cities they perform in, invite them to return.
One night, after a fairly long performance, a knock comes to Kurt's door. Kurt pulls himself out of bed and heads over to the door. He opens the door and Celena all but jumps into his arm. She locks him into a passionate kiss and they both move into Kurt’s bedroom. Several hours later, Celena slumps down on top of Kurt's heaving chest. After regaining their breath, they fall into a deep sleep, without their usual pillow talk. Kurt doesn't think much of it, assuming she was just very eager.
The next morning, Kurt goes to put his arm around his love and finds her side of the bed empty. He sits up and calls her name, but doesn't get an answer. "That gorgeous woman is probably eating breakfast or something. I've probably over slept." But it really isn't very late at all. Kurt gets up, gets dressed, and heads out for the eating area. He doesn't see Celena there and starts to look for her again. He checks the rest of the grounds, but doesn't find her.
'Maybe she went back to her trailer for something.' he thinks, hitting upon the obvious. He goes over to her trailer, but the door is locked. Perplexed, he goes back to his trailer and sits on the bed. After a bit, he decides to ask Franklin what's going on. Just as he gets ready to leave, he sees an envelope sitting on the dresser. He opens it and takes the letter from inside.
"Dear Kurt,
I hate to do this to you, but I have to leave. By the time you find this, I'll will be gone. I know this is going to be hard for you, but please try to understand. Something has happened that I didn't plan on and I have to figure out what to do next. I've already told Franklin and the others, I couldn't tell you face to face."
Kurt's heart speeds up as confusion and pain start to pound on him. His eyes start to fill up as he continues to read.
"I know that you haven't had the greatest life and I'm sorry that doing this to you will make it so much worse. I do love you and I always will. I just have to get some things straitened out and take care of some business.
Love,
Celena"
Kurt reads the letter again, making sure that his eyes aren't playing trick on him. After making sure that it is what it says, he stands there dazed. Kurt slams his fists into the wall and screams out in pain. His howling can be heard all across the circus ground. Franklin sits in his trailer and knows that Kurt just read the letter.Kurt storms out of his trailer and teleports down to Celena's. He teleports inside, waking her room-mate. He takes not notice of her. All of Celena's things have already been cleaned out.
"NO!!" he screams and smashes over a nearby table. He exits the trailer and runs around the circus, hoping to find her. He sees Franklin and runs over to him. Kurt grabs Franklin's shirt and shakes him. "WHERE IS SHE?!?"
"She gone Kurt." he replies.
"SHE NOT GONE!! SHE LOVED ME!!" he yells and goes to look again.
Franklin grabs his arm. "She left over three hours ago. I'm sorry, she's long gone." Kurt pulls his arm from Franklin's grasp and walks away.
Kurt goes back to his trailer and falls onto his bed. "Why? What did I do?" he asks no one, tears streaming down his face. "Why does everyone I love leave me?" He starts pounding on the mattress. "IT'S NOT FAIR!! IT'S NOT FAIR!!" He buries his face in his pillow. "Its not fair..."
