Part Five

Emma looked on to see Bobby in the Guillotine, the Black Queen, Jean Grey on his left, and Mastermind, Jason Wyngarde on his right.

"Emma, my dear, do you really want to provoke us?" Mastermind growled, his hand clutching the rope that would cause the blade to fall and kill Bobby's mental form, leaving him in a coma forever.

"Robert, listen to me -- these are just images from your mind, they can only hurt you if you let them," Emma said, ignoring Wyngarde's taunting. "Just imagine that this doesn't exist.

"But Emma, it does."

Emma turned to see the Phoenix entity, in the form of Jean Grey saunter towards her, a wicked grin forming on her face. "Now, why don't you head back to your little school in the mountains and leave us alone. I'm sure that your new little children are going to need your help against the big bad Friends of Humanity. After all, if your old students couldn't even handle themselves against a few sentinels..."

The Black Queen didn't have time to finish her sentence before Emma backhanded her, causing Grey to be flung around and fall to the ground. Slowly, she began to stand up--her Black leather outfit becoming lighter and lighter, until it was pure white. When she turned, Jean Grey's face was replaced by Bobby's.

"What's the matter, Emma? Can't handle the truth? Afraid that even mentioning your dead little bastards will make them come back and haunt you? Afraid you'll see the gaping, bloody holes in their bodies, smell their burnt flesh as they look at you through hollow eyes of..."

Again, the thing with Bobby's face was interrupted by Emma's attack, (she has a real problem with that, doesn't she) a plethora of mental energy streaming out at the creature, causing it to choke up blood, wither and fade away.

"All right, Wyngarde, let go...NOW!"

"If you say so, Emma." With that, Wyngarde pulled on the rope that would lower the blade. For Emma, time stopped. She knew that she was too far away to do anything. Battling creature after creature had taken its toll on the White Queen, she couldn't move fast enough to stop the Guillotine from performing its task. Slowly, time started again, only moving at a fifth of its normal speed, but as she watch on, the blade disappeared from its spot right above Bobby's neck, and reappeared above Mastermind. The blade fell, dividing Jason Wyngarde into two fading pieces.

"Wow, that mental stuff really works, doesn't it."

Emma stood frozen for a moment staring at Bobby, standing up from the vanishing death machine. Several phrases and courses of action came to Emma's mind--sarcastic replies, insulting comments, long repetitive curses, body slamming him for making her come into his mind and deal with his problems, but the only thing that she could do was kiss him full on the lips.

"mmmuuu!!!!" was Bobby's surprised reply before he joined her in the kiss.

Pulling away, Emma asked, "Are you all right?"

"Yeah...Look, I'm sorry about having to make you come in here and deal with all of this...I uhh.."

"Don't wory yourself about it... However.... if you ever do anything like that again...I willll kill you slowly and painfully myself. Got it?"

"Umm, Yeah..." said a very nervous Bobby.

"Good, now are you ready to go home?"

"You bet."

"Wonderful," Emma said, grabbing Bobby's hand as they faded out of his mind, "Sean probably could use some help with the FoH out there..."

Waking up, Emma and Bobby looked around the room and into the nervous faces of Sean Cassidy, Rogue, and Generation X.

"Are ye two all right? After we were finished with the FoH, we came down here lookin' for ye, but ye were both out. Even Monet couldn't break through your mental connection."

"We're fine, Sean...thank you, but if you will all excuse me, traveling through Bobby's mind has left me very tired. I'll be up in my room resting. Bob--Robert, would you be so kind as to come up in a little while, I would like to discuss a few things with you," Emma said as she slowly stood up and walked towards the door as everyone watched on. In the door frame the White Queen stopped and, looking over her shoulder, said, "By the way, Bobby, you don't look too bad in white leather...."

With that she was gone, leaving everyone to turn to a bright red, gasping Bobby.

"Don't ask."

The End.
