From: "deborahw37" Date: Mon Aug 18, 2003 2:00 pm Subject: Drusilla Dances ( all Machas's fault) Ok this is too daft for words but I was in the museum today listening to a cheesy 1920,s dance music tape and gazing at a blood red heavily beaded dance dress ( circa 1922) trying to get inspiration to start writing a funding bid and I remembered Macha suggesting that I write Drusilla Dancing. So .here it is, No funding bid but one inconsequential ditty set to a jaunty melody (the one playing in my head was "I`ve danced with a man who's danced with a girl who's danced with the Prince of Wales") with every word rhymed like a silly little dance song. And some bloke named William insisting on the last word Drusilla Dances Sways to the music that sings in her head (Violins, harpsichords, voices long dead). Sparkle of sequins all dazzle and shine Swish of material brittle with time, Sliding of satin shoes, flash of pale arms Clicking of fingertips, weaving of charms, Floating of wine dark hair stealing the light Eyes full of wickedness heart full of night. Dances on broken glass laughs at the pain, Calls to her lover to spin her again. Smiles of the blond boy enchanted, indulgent Bewitched by the glow of this beauty effulgent. Deb W off to do something sensible like read the rest of the list :)
