Liza Colby Chandler felt her husband wrap his arms around her as Dr. Klator shook his head. Their beautiful baby girl was stillborn. Everything they had dreamed about was lost.
Adam Chandler was a man of means and power, but he lacked the ability to give his daughter life. The first sob broke from Liza's mouth as Dr. Klator handed her her baby. Their little girl had been so beautiful, from her red skin to her seven fingers and toes. Never would Adam Chandler have called a mutant beautiful, but his daughter was.
"What kind of life would she have had?" Liza asked between sobs. She held her daughter and gently rubbed her leg.
At that moment, Adam Chandler's mission in life changed. He couldn't have changed how his daughter appeared, not even with all his money. "We could have given her the best. We would have changed the world for her." And he vowed he would, not just for little Victoria Agatha Chandler, but all the mutants born after her.

Life moved on for the Chandlers, slowly but surely. One day Liza smiled, but there was a sadness in her smile that had never been there before. Adam's frowns seemed deeper. But they mourned together.
And together, the started planning their private memorial to Victoria. All anti-mutant sentiments were removed from the television station they owned. Shows started doing honest reports on mutant issues. Slowly but surely, their corner of the world became more accepting of mutants.
Liza never flinched from the truth, the whispered accusations that her daughter had been a mutant. Adam never denied what many people called shameful. They were a team dedicated to loving their daughter.
