Final Warning -- Part 4

Paige was getting frustrated. Sam, true to his word, was making the team reason things out for themselves. How dare he, when the lives of their friends were at stake! The only time he spoke up was to stop them from making mistakes. And boy, he was speaking a lot.

At first it was how to get the equipment in the building without attracting notice. Then it was the comings and goings of the people in the building. Now he was fighting with her about how to put the cameras up.

Paige had about had enough of her brother's bossiness. Who knew that they were this poorly trained? She didn't think so. But, according to Sam's attitude, anybody trained under Emma Frost's supervision was a mooncalf, an idiot.

"Okay, Sam. I can't set up the sensors all at once, but I can run around the block, then change my shape." It had seemed like a simple thing, setting up surveillance cameras, but Sam was giving her a hard time about it.

Sam rubbed the back of his neck as he often did when he was nervous or afraid. His fear was more for the danger his sister would be placing herself in then in her ability to place these cameras. But he knew if he said that, she'd never forgive him. If the situation was different, he would have more easily trusted her to set up the cameras.

The problem was that on the way to this building, they had discovered two lookout cars parked on the roads that led in or out of the area. In addition to that, each corner on the block around the apartment had a guard posted. And in front of them, there was a large empty van. Everett, Skin, and M were in the process of setting up equipment to read how many people were in each apartment, while Jubilee preparing to cross check the lease agreements. Thankfully getting the information wasn't hard, as Frost Enterprises had had a subsidiary buy the building, but they needed to know what they were up against. From all looks, this was a very professional job.

If Sam have been able to reach another team, he would have turned it over to them. This was a job more along the lines of X-force. The kids didn't need the setback of failing to rescue their friends at this stage of their training.

Quickly picking up a cap and a pair of glasses from the box, he decided that he would follow behind his sister. They needed to know how extreme the damping field was, so it was imperative that they get the readings. He would follow his sister, even though he knew that she would read it as his not having confidence in what she could do. Sibling relationships were hard. Hopefully, he would never be on the same team as his sister.

Paige stiffled a mental groan as Sam told her that he was going to follow her. When would her big brother stop acting so big brotherish and let her act on her own? Ah hope Ah never work on the same team as him.

To the men standing guard outside the apartment building, two joggers left a house and jogged down the road, then came back and circled the block around the apartment. Twice around the block, they checked their pulse and twice some one had to tie a shoe lace.

What they didn't see was a small, state of the art camera firmly attached to each of four electrical poles that would allow the members of Generation-X to see inside the building.
