Jubilee was proud of the maturity Ariel showed in her fight. Her friend was the more level headed of the two, and more mature, but Jubilee didn't know she had it in her to fight so well.
Sam couldn't help feeling for the older girl, she was so strong and in control. She would do whatever she needed to in order to spare her sister unwanted pain, even at her own expense. He could empathize with her and the situation, his family had been put in jeopardy because of him, and he would do anything to keep them safe. He would do anything to keep her safe, the two girls were there because they were friends with his younger sister.
Without meaning too, he looked at Paige. Her long hair was pulled back into a ponytail, a serious frown crossed her face. He saw her as the novice she was, she saw him as competition. Looking back into the apartment, he realized, sometimes, siblings saw each other as equals.
He motioned for Skin to hand him the earphones, so Skin could get to work planning. After a moment, Angelo got up and changed places with Sam.
"What did you do to him?" Tony demanded to know, as he motioned for two of his men to drag Tanner out.
"He made a liar out of you!" Celeste turned around, all confusion lost as she faced down Tony. Despite the fact that Celeste was five foot three, she could make any man afraid of her when she got mad. She was holding Tony's eyes as she approached him. "You said my sister and I were safe! He came and attacked us. I've got bruises from where he dragged me off the top bunk in our bedroom- the very place you said that your men would not go!"
Tony sputtered, "I don't believe that." Ariel closed her eye, she knew her sister too well and knew what Celeste was going to do. In front of the seven men, Celeste stepped out of her jeans. Why couldn't she have worn sweat pants? Ariel wondered while thanking God that at least Cel's shirt was very long.
"See those bruises? See my head?" She lifted her bangs to show a nasty cut. "And see what he did to my sister?" Her voice dropped several degrees as she pointed to the blond hair in Tanner's hands and the bruises around Ariel's neck. She could tolerate danger for herself, but she would not allow her sister to be harmed.
Ariel wished that the situation would have been better, for this was a sight to see. Celeste had lost her temper, and had a grown man, most likely trained in fighting skills, afraid of her. She held his eyes as he retreated from her approach. "Death gaze on stun- please?" Ariel whispered to herself.
"You know, you have a lot of fire for a woman that walks around like she has a flagpole stuck up her butt," Tony blurted out with a stupid grin across his face. And now, Ariel shook her head, the poor fool was taken with her sister.
"Perfect posture never hurt anybody!" Celeste snapped back, a half grin dancing across her face. If Ariel didn't know better, she would swear that Celeste liked Tony. Stockholm syndrome at the worst, Ariel thought, Cupid tripping at the best. Celeste always liked a man that could verbally spar with her.
Tony motioned for the rest of his men to leave, while Celeste told Ariel to get back to her room. In a second, the room was cleared, and Celeste was shaking, unconsciously bringing out the protective side of Tony. Quickly he moved to bandage her head. "Your sister, she's some firecracker. If she ever needs a job, I'll be glad to take her on."
"She sticks to babysitting. You know those women in the movies that slap men across the face? My family knees them in the groin. Makes the point a lot easier." It was, as her Granny pointed out, a lot easier to walk away from a bad situation when the situation couldn't follow you.
Tony laughed at that remark. When the government men suggested the Dubois sisters as the weakest link, they didn't know what they were talking about. He applied some disinfectant to the cut. "Ikes! Spirit, brains, and beauty. No wonder we failed."
Celeste grinned at that remark. She had reached the point that she didn't expect to be rescued by an outside source and didn't mind the flattery. "Strange, the way Jubilee never showed up." She locked eyes with him and smiled shyly. This was the first guy in a long time that got her attention.
Tony sighed at what he had to say next. He wasn't a bad guy at heart, but he was a man with very few life choices. The gang had let him survive as a child, and he climbed the Network ladder, following one rule. "I'd be worried for you and your sister. I leave no witnesses to my failures." Celeste's grin vanished and he continued. "However, for the right incentive ...." The look on his face and the way he looked her over spoke volumes. There was only one way he could justify bringing the girls out alive, that was if he took them back with him.
He looked her over, eyes lingering on her breasts. Celeste tried not to think about how dirty it made her feel. What would Emma do in a situation like this? Celeste and Emma shared one rule, do anything to survive. Chemicals, girl, hormones. He's got them, I've got them, use them. Timidly, she kissed him. I just may have him where I want him. She thought as he started to respond. A sound from the bedroom reminded them that they were not alone.
She stepped out of his arms. "There is still time, we'll bargain later."
Mike came back in the room, and whispered something to Tony. "Tanner, is he...?"
Tony nodded. "He will be. He disobeyed my orders and made me a liar." Tanner was almost dead anyways, and it would be easier for the girls if they believed that he had killed him. He motioned for Mike to carry out his order.
Her face clouded over and she started fighting back tears. "Tanner, he said... He seemed to know something about me." A small part of her mind reminded her that men liked to protect women, and that this was making her look weak and defenseless in his eyes. But most of her screamed that she had to know what Tanner knew.
Tony closed his eyes and thought how to tell her what he was going to say. His sister was raped when she wasn't much older than Ariel. He had killed the rapist. "Tanner is crazy," he said, trying to avoid the truth.
Celeste never had tolerance for less than the truth. "And?" She had to know.
In their research of the girls, the Network had come across some interesting information about Celeste. "He likes violent porno movies, stuff where the woman doesn't know that there is a camera rolling."
Celeste blanched and started to cry. "There are still things now that I don't remember about that night." She bit her lip, fighting back dream memories of that night. "My therapist says that when the time is right, I'll remember them."
She looked so weak and fragile at that moment, Tony would have done anything to help her. "I hope you never do." When they got done here, Tony decided to pay a visit to a certain film maker and shut done production forever.
Celeste walked over to the sink and opened her pill bottles. It was almost time for her noon dosage. "You can buy lunch. Pizza number is on the wall." Celeste told him as she swallowed her medicine. If they called for pizza, someone might have the chance to slip in.
"Why do you keep your medicine there?" Tony asked, trying to break the tension. He started rummaging though the cabinets and pulled down a bottle of spaghetti sauce and noodles. "I'll just make lunch."
Celeste smiled. "Ariel gets the bathroom first in the morning, so I take my medicine in the morning before I put in my contacts and I always lose my glasses at night. I'm deathly allergic to the stuff my sister is taking so I keep ours as separate as possible."
