Disclaimer: Well.... Again, I know you can't TELL, but this one's a Kitty/Pete poem, they don't belong to me, the world doesn't belong to me, and even the poem isn't reeeeally mine bc it's a present for Luba. :) Enjoy, Lubabunny!
Severance (Duet)
By Dyce
Soprano:
An element of mystery,
A whispered breath of secrecy,
With eyes of topaz, ebon haired,
The dang'rous stuff of fantasy.
Tenor:
The element of loveliness,
Child of grace, e'en in stillness,
With eyes of velvet, silken haired,
And proffered hope of happiness.
Soprano:
His gentle voice, for me alone,
The hidden heart that I was shown,
The love in measure infinite,
And pain my disregard has sown.
Tenor:
Her tender voice whispered my name,
My heart consigned to burning pain,
My love and trust were given free,
And lightly given back again.
Soprano:
For he is gone, and my heart aches,
Too late realising my mistakes,
I loved him dear, and always will,
But 'tis too late, and my heart breaks.
Tenor:
She is gone; behind her follow,
Love and faith and hope, 'til hollow,
I stand, with only duty cold,
My pain to ease, and comfort sorrow.
Soprano:
I have still my chosen calling,
Evil still comes creeping, crawling,
I will protect my foolish world,
Evil's dark is ever falling.
Tenor:
I have still my chosen calling,
Evil still comes creeping, crawling,
What needs doing, so will be done,
And the foolish kept from falling.
Soprano:
An element of mystery,
That I yearn for in secrecy,
Those eyes of topaz, ebon hair,
That lost, forbidden fantasy
Tenor:
The element of loveliness,
Child of grace I'll ne'er possess,
Her eyes of velvet, silken hair,
And lying hope of happiness.
