Subject: [OTL]: Fly on the Wall: Delirium Date: Thu, 29 Jul 1999 21:12:04 -0700 (PDT) From: "Emily R. Snyder" ok, more Vertigo stuff. Can't stand this. Poor Delirium was calling out from the page, telling me she was all fishies, and I can't say no to anyone like that. ESPECIALLY when they're all fishies. Anyway, all characters are the property of DC/Vertigo comics and are used without permission and not for profit. Archive with permission, bla bla. Feedback, please. A Fly on the Wall: Delirium Here I am, flying around a nice, reputable nightclub, and here's this girl. She's got weird hair, all different colors and buzzed on one side and flowing around on the other. It's rainbow-colored, as far as I can tell, with pinks and lavenders everywhere. It's so beautiful that it makes me dizzy just to look at it! It matches her voice, I think. I can almost see her voice. It's vibrant with pink and blue and green, and when she speaks, I can just see a hint of the blazing-bright colors touch the edge of my mind. They're delicious and searing and wild and I think I'd give anything right now to just fall into the colors. She's got a floating fish. Can you imagine that? And she says it's nice and inconspicuous. Well, not to humans, but to me it just looks like another bug. Yeah, it's a fish, but it could be a fish-bug. It's pretty, anyway, and it looks like it matches her. She says she's looking for her dog. She seems sweet, and nice, if a little off in the head, and I really hope she finds the dog. She's really pretty, anyway, and her voice is very interesting. I think she's got a sweet voice. Maybe humans wouldn't like it, but it's so colorful. I love bright colors. I'd like to meet her, you know. And...she's...calling me? No humans notice me. EVER! I'm a really small fly, you know. But she's calling me to come see her, telling me what a pretty fly I am. I know I'm sort of pretty; I have iridescent wings and everything, but humans don't think flies are pretty. But I don't really think she's human. What human has hair like that (even thought they all should; it's so pretty!) and follows floating fish and calls to flies? I'll go to her. She IS so pretty that I've got to see her up close. I land on her finger. "Hello, pretty fly! You were watching me, weren't you, darling?" I buzz and flap my wings. I can't speak human languages. I haven't got the right vocal apparatus. But she understands. "Yes, you're very pretty and smart! I know you understand me, pretty fly. Want to follow my fishie with me?" I buzz and flap again. "Wonderful! Let's go find my doggy." And she carries me on her finger, holding me out from her body so she doesn't squish me. She walks off like that, following the pretty floating fish, and I watch the fish and smell her wild smell and I know she's the stuff of Delirium. I like this non-human best of all the human-looking people I've ever seen. She understands flies. === "When I get a little money, I buy books; and if there is any left, I buy food and clothes." --Erasmus
