Etc. NOTES: At end. -------------------------------------------------------- "... and they lived happily ever after." The little boy scrunched up his face and crossed his arms, which prompted his mother to fight a smile. "But there's no real ending," the boy said, scowling. "Well, what do you want to know ?" his mother asked, brushing a hand across his brow. "Well, what about Buffy ? And Nate and all the others ? And Xander - he was always brave, even if he was silly," the boy asked, his expression turning curious. His mother's smile shone at last, and she set aside the book on the nightstand. "Well, Buffy and Angel eventually married, and had many more than just one daughter. She was a Slayer, too, but those stories will have to wait until you're older. Xander finally settled down with Cordelia, and Oz with Willow," she began. "Nate got therapy, and went on to grow up and fall in love with Domino. And as for all of the rest of the New Mutants, well, they graduated and found jobs, and married - that could take all night to explain." "You got married too," the boy said with a giggle. "Yes I did," his mother laughed, tickling him. After a few minutes, the boy drifted off to sleep, and she tucked him in with a kiss before shutting off the light and stepping into the hall. She entered the living room, then found her husband sitting in his chair, reading the holopaper. "He always wants to hear those old stories," he said, smiling a lopsided grin at his wife. The red-haired woman kissed her brown-haired husband on his forehead, then sat on the couch after scooting the family pet aside. "Well, he's got my curiosity," she said, picking up the small purple dragon and petting him. Lockheed yawned, looking up at Aislinn Richards-Wisdom, and rolled over to have his belly scratched. She smiled a bit, complying with the dragon's request, and gazed at her husband. Dan had aged well, Ace thought; he'd eventually become a CPA after graduation, while Aislinn had retired very young with her share of her family fortune. #A quiet life for us,# Aislinn thought, telepathically checking on her and Dan's only child. Patrick Wisdom stirred, his 6-year-old mind filled with dreams of adventures, then settled into a deeper sleep. #A quiet life at last ...# -------------------------------------------------------- finis -------------------------------------------------------- NOTES: There are times when an "epic" story gets so bogged down in revisions that it needs to be set out to pasture. These three fell into that category, and I was starting to get burned out on it all. I'll be back, sooner or later, to OTL, but I need a break. - Phil H.
