The soul had decorated his office just as the demon would. He turned around in his chair, chuckling lightly as he looked at the various weapons displayed on the wall behind the desk. The vampire knew that Angel would never use them as they were intended and that thought made him sad. Turning back around to rest himself behind the desk, Angelus got a hint of a familiar smell. A boy, his boy had been here recently with the soul. The demon felt his sight glaze over in a red haze of jealousy. William was his boy and his alone. Angel had no right to take what he had rightfully stolen. He was the one who ripped the small, mousy boy with the indescribable azure blue eyes out of the arms of his insane childe and fed him his blood, making him his own. His eyes flashed yellow as he remembered the times he had spent trapped in that cage as he watched the soul love his boy. That night at the opera house he exercised a lot of demons for both of them. They had fought and Spike won for the first time ever. Angelus was proud of the master his childe had become and Angel was amazed that he had finally found an equal, another vampire with a soul who could match him blow for blow. Angel had come back to his apartment, licking his wounds. He stood in the shower, letting the nearly unbearably hot water pour off his split skin, trying to figure out why he lost when he heard someone enter the bathroom. Looking up, he was more than a little surprised to see his childe lounging in the doorway, staring at him. "Now what do we do" the rough baritone floated across the room to the shower warmed vampire. Angel looked at the bloodied form watching him and shrugged. He honestly had no idea where they would go from here. "You beat me tonight, Spike" he said sadly. "Oddly enough, I'm proud of you." The blonde stood staring at the dark vampire. He never thought he would hear those words come from between those lips. Angel didn't wait for his childe to respond before he continued. "You really are a master vampire now. It takes someone very strong to take someone older." Shaken by the words coming from the man he hated more than all others, Spike slowly walked across the expansive tile, dropping articles of clothing on the way. Once he reached the shower, he was completely naked. Angel was too shocked by the boy's action to speak. He stood slack jawed as the blonde walked under the water spray and pressed his naked chest against that of the taller man. Softly, he had whispered "Sire" as he tilted his head to the side, showing his complete submission to the man he had nearly killed just a few hours before. Angel leaned forward and gently kissed the soft flesh. He snaked out his tongue and licked the faded mark he had put on his boy so many years before. The demon violently forced the memories away. He couldn't believe the soul had allowed his boy to take him that night and several nights since then. It just wasn't done. Besides, someone else had touched what belonged to him. He was going to take care of this right now. He was going to go upstairs and find his annoying blonde childe and show him who he really belong to. It was time he remembered what a sire really was. He rose from the chair with a growl and slammed the stone down, intent on getting what was his. As soon as the stone left his hand, Angelus felt his consciousness slipping away. He tried to scream but no sound escaped his lips. He desperately reached for anything to hold on to, but the pull was too great and the demon felt himself being imprisoned in his own body once again. Angel's eyes shot open and he realized he must have dozed off for a few moments. He glanced down at the blue stone that was sitting on his desk and smiled at the small piece of stone that gave him a moment of peace. He quickly picked it up and slipped it in his pocket as he stood. He suddenly had an unexplainable desire to go find Spike and ravage the boy until he couldn't stand, but as he turned toward the elevator that would lead him to that tempting piece of flesh, Harmony walked in. "Hey, Boss man" she said just a little too chipper for Angel's tastes. "Mr. Taylor is here to see you." Angel sighed and then motioned to Harmony to let the annoying man in. He forgot that he had agreed to talk to the man about the contract he had with Wolfram and Hart to supply him with Danari eggs for his spell casting. This was not going to be a fun conversation. As the man walked in, Angel forgot all about Spike and his plans to make the blonde beg with desire. ********** Angel sighed as he finished signing the last contract of the day and pushed the papers away from him. He was looking forward to going back upstairs to his apartment and spending time with Spike. He stopped short when Eve walked in and turned that damned smirk on him. "Hi big guy" she said happily. "Productive day?" "What do you want Eve?" he asked, practically growling under his breath. "Just wanted to touch bases with you is all" she said as she settled herself on the edge of his desk. He noticed how she always crossed her legs as high as possible, ensuring that she exposed as much flesh as possible. The funny thing was, there was no way she was tempting him when the only person he wanted right now was a certain blonde vampire who was probably upstairs in his apartment, smoking and listening to music much too loud. Some may think she was cute, but it had taken a psychic suggestion from a very strong empath to make him want to take her over and over. All he needed from Spike was a raised eyebrow or lopsided smirk and he was hard as rock. He realized that Eve was staring at him, still waiting for a response. "Everything's fine, Eve" he said as he sighed and reached in his pocket and pulled out the small stone, holding it loosely in his hand. "I just want to go upstairs and get to bed." The young girl chuckled knowingly and said, "Well, I'd hate to hold you up or anything, but what's that?" The vampire looked down at the stone in his hand. "It's a gift from a friend" he said, smiling. "Cool" she gushed as she held out her hand. "Can I?" Angel sighed before tipping the blue stone into the girl's small hand. "It's a worry stone, right?" she asked as she turned it over, staring at the gold strands weaving through the blue. "Yeah" Angel said cryptically. He was rapidly becoming irritated at the girl's continued presence. "Do you believe it works?" she asked handing it back. The vampire wrapped his hand around the cool stone before dropping it back into his pocket. "Doesn't matter if I believe it or not, it was a gift and I will treasure it always. Now, if you don't mind, I'm done for the day and I'm going upstairs." The girl watched as the dark vampire turned and walked away from her without so much as a single glance. As he stepped into the elevator, she pulled out her cell phone and hit the speed dial number. When the party on the other end answered, she said quietly, "Yeah, he got it. No, I don't think he suspects a thing. Such thing, baby. I'll be home soon." The blonde tucked the phone away and swished out of the office with a conspiratory smile on her face. Tbc...
