Note to anyone reading this: Feedback of any sort would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to think I quit lurking in vain. Catnapping Pt.III- 'The Truth Comes Out (of the Closet?)' by Kitty Wisdom () "Pete!" Kitty ran to him. "What's going on? Are you okay? If they hurt you..." "So someone got you, too, eh?" Eccles spat. "Hope they hang you, ya lousy git." Pete used a miniature hot knife to cut himself free from the ropes, and Kitty helped him into a more comfortable seated position. "Um... Perhaps I should confess something... Doyle!" The door opened, and Doyle entered, followed by Jardine, Pitman, and Stamford. Both Doyle and Pitman were carrying recently removed disguises. "Kitty, I was never in any danger. The ropes was in case they put us together straight off and I got the impression you didn't care for me. But I got the impression you did care, so I'm going to be honest with you." "What are you talking about?" Her brandy eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Pete...?" "I kidnapped the good father here, because I needed someone who was both a trustworthy MI man and a priest. Sorry about that, Eccles, honest I am, but I needed your help, and you weren't even giving me a chance to explain." "You rotten wanker, you tied me up in a storeroom! Now you want my help?" "It's very important. You'll understand." "But I don't understand." Kitty broke in. "Why did you need me here?" "Well, you're the most important part, gel." He smiled at her nervously, reaching a hand out to touch one soft chestnut curl. "Kitty, I want to apologize for not listening to you when you made your apology a while back. I should have gone back to you then. Heavens know I love you." Kitty blushed, lowering her eyes. "I should have... But I was-- I always was, an idiot. First, I need to know you forgive me, before I can finish explaining." "I should strangle you, Pete Wisdom. Having your friends kidnap me at two in the morning, letting me believe you were in mortal danger. But I love you, too. Of course I forgive you for before, you had every right to be upset with me. I hurt you. And, you know, turnabout's fair play..." "No, Kitty. I never wanted to hurt you, but... Again, I'm going to chalk it up to me being an idiot. But I did have you catnapped for a reason, Luv." He dropped to one knee before her. "I-- Kitty, I want you to-- I mean, if you would, I-- Well, I would be deeply honoured if you would-- What I'm trying to say is--" "He wants you to marry him!" Doyle interrupted, exasperated. "And we went through a lot of trouble with his stupid plan so's you would. Do us all a favour and either say yes to the poor chap or put him out of all of our misery." (To be concluded in Pt.IV)
