CHAPTER NINE
-The Morning After-

    "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Upon hearing the panicked screams coming from Domino's room, Cable had arrived almost instantly, kicked down the door, and leveled his BFG at the room. Through the sight of his gun, Cable saw a patch of Domino's purple-black hair... and he wasn't looking at her head. "Don't you ever knock, Nathan?"  For the first time in her life, Domino saw Cable blush.

Cable stood there, frozen in place equally by the shock of seeing Domino nude and the betrayal of seeing her in bed with two other men.  A second later, Logan appeared at Cable's side, leaving Tiger Tyger alone in their room to finish dressing.

He stared at Domino, then at Tony and Pete, who were frantically getting dressed.  Logan took an experimental sniff, detecting the strong odor of liquor in the room, and figured out rather quickly exactly why Pete and Tony had panicked so badly.

Looking down the hall, Logan blinked as he saw Jessica and Lindsay leave a room together, one clad in Remy's coat and the other in his shirt. Logan looked up to see Remy, who walked out after them clothed in his shorts, wearing the smuggest grin he'd ever seen. "Remy always smoke after sex." Gambit put two cigarettes to his lips, taking a long drag off of both. "Get de picture?"

Snapping himself back to his senses, Cable bellowed, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!!"

"If you have to ask, Nate, you're gettin' less than me," said Wade, who'd showed up with a bra mistakenly tucked in the waistband of his pants (which were in-side-out).

Barely restraining his anger at seeing Domino in bed with others, Cable turned on his heel and stormed off down the stairs.  Upon entering the bar, he punched the first person he saw and worked his way up from there...

For her part, Domino hung her head in her hands, deeply regretting that she'd hurt Cable in this way.  Even though they weren't officially a couple, nothing more than close friends, really, she felt rotten about betraying... whatever it was that they had.

"Tony," Freeze said, "I do not believe that those are yours."  Tony glanced down to where Freeze was pointing, and felt a horrible sinking feeling in his gut as he realized that he was wearing Pete's boxers.

"Why me?" was all he could manage before grabbing his own shorts and running into the restroom to throw up.

Downstairs...

George Washington Bridge reluctantly trudged his way downstairs.  He didn't like Cable very much, and trusted him even less; but Bridge knew what Nathan was feeling.  At least Domino had slept with strangers, where Bridge's now ex-wife had cheated on him with his own brother.

    "You done yet, Cable?"

"No.  How many more bars does this island have?"

"Not enough to make you feel better."

"I'll cope.  Now leave me alone."

"Sorry, but I'm not about to let you risk getting thrown in jail for the night.  We've got a contract to finish, and I'm not about to let you screw it up over this."

"Don't make me hurt you," Cable threatened coldly. "I'm not in the mood."

"Well, if you've gotta pick on someone, it might as well be someone your own size." Bridge responded, taking a defensive stance. "Bring it on, punk."

Furious, Cable lunged at Bridge, who was prepared for it and dodged, bringing his knee up into Nate's midsection. "Besides, you've got no right to be angry, anyway.  It's not like you and Domino were actually a couple, so it's her right to sleep with whoev..." Bridge's sentence was cut off when his legs were swept out from under him, bringing him down to the wooden floorboards with a loud thud.

"Don't you dare tell me what I can and can't be angry at!" Cable roared, still not thinking clearly and, frankly, not really wanting to.

"I'll say whatever I damn well please, thank you very much.  If you care so much who Dom sleeps with, why don't you tell her!"

"She's too young." Nathan snapped back, bringing his foot up.

"For Pete's sake, Cable, open your damn eyes!  Sure, she was only nineteen when we brought her into the Pack, but that was at least six years ago!  If you want her, she deserves to know."  Bridge rolled to one side, evading Nathan's stomping foot.  He sprung to his feet, blocking the punch coming at him with honed reflexes.

"She's still nine years younger than me, though.  It's not right," Cable said, delivering another several punches, all blocked as before.

"Why don't you let her decide if she's old enough, okay?"  Nathan's only response was a roundhouse kick that could have taken the other man's head off if he hadn't ducked.

"You're not usually this much of an idiot, Cable.  Stubborn, overbearing, and a first class jerk, but not an idiot."  Nathan delivered a gut punch that made contact, but Bridge sidestepped before Nate could capitalize on it.

"Am I making too much sense, is that it?  Face facts, Cable, unless you actually work up the nuts to tell Domino how you feel about her, she's got every right to bag everyone she sees.  Hell, she could sleep with WADE if she wanted to."

Bridge had expected that comment to earn him another attack, but none came.  Instead, Nate was hunched over, breathing heavily with barely restrained anger.  "You're right, I am acting like an idiot."

"Does that mean you're finally going to tell her?"

     "..."

     "Cable?"

"Come on.  We've got a mission to prepare for."

"Coward," Bridge muttered under his breath.

Upstairs...

Logan grumbled as he looked at the people standing around him.  Pete had wrapped himself in a bed-sheet, while Tony had managed to get his own pants on this time.  Domino and the others stood around, wearing little more than their underwear.  "I think we can all agree that something unusual happened here last night."

"Gambit don' notice not'in strange," Remy said, smoking his two cigarettes casually. "Not'in unusual a'tall."

"That's not what Pete and Tony seem to think," Domino said.

"NOTHING HAPPENED!!!" They both yelled in unison.

Logan stepped up to them both, leaned forward, and gave each a couple sniffs.  "I think I'll see what Tiger's up to..." Logan said, monotone, then went back to his room.

"You rat bastard," Pete said, putting on the rest of his suit.

"He couldn't have smelled anything because nothing happened," Tony said, diving into that river in Egypt.  "End of story."

"Your scent has too much alcohol on it for him to smell anything else," Freeze said.

"Now's not the time, Paul.  I can control my drinking just fine."

"So says the man who may or may not have just had a homosexual experience."

"Excuse me, but I think I was making a point here," Domino said, peeved.  "Fact is, all joking aside, with the exception of Remy, we all did things last night that we wouldn't normally do."

"You got that right," said Grizzly, who had discreetly shown up in the middle of the argument.  His tone reeked of regret, and Domino made a mental note to find out why, later.

"What say that we all forget about what happened here and pretend like this night never happened, okay?" Domino said. "We've got work to do, anyway."

"What?"  Tony said, momentarily befuddled, thinking that he might have given away vital information about their mission as pillow talk.

"Don't play stupid with me, Tony.  You're here to scale the Castle, and we're doing the same,"  Domino said.  Before Tony could manage to invent an appropriate lie, she added, "Emma sent us."

"Why should we believe you?"  Pete asked, going into all-business mode.  Being fully dressed, finally, helped.

"Because you can damn well call Emma yourself and she'll tell you the same bloody thing," Domino said, irritated. "Fact is, we're here to keep make sure that all the prisoners get out safely and then blow the Castle to kingdom come.  Deal with it, I'm going to get dressed." With that, Dom went back to her room and started putting her clothes back on.  On that note, everyone else did, too.
