They managed a shower and some blood before somebody pounded on their
door. Wincing painfully Spike went and opened it revealing a
panicked Dawn who ran inside looking around frantically.
"Do you know where Giles is?" she said.
"Haven't seen him since dinner," Spike replied.
"What's wrong?" Angel asked wiping the last of the hair gel off his
hands
as he left the bathroom.
"Giles didn't come to work this morning, he's not at his flat, he's not
answering his phone and someone at the council called Buffy and told
her
what happened so she's flying in this afternoon," Dawn said without
taking a breath.
"Buffy." Both vampires said in horror.
"We should find Giles," Spike said.
"Yes," Angel said eagerly, "and we should go now."
"It's daylight outside," Dawn reminded them.
"We can get a car from Wolfram & Hart," Angel said.
"How will you find him?" Dawn said.
"Wolfram & Hart have magic users, we'll put a trace on him, find
him
and send him home," Angel said as he started packing his suitcase.
"Then we should really be getting back to L.A," Spike added throwing
his
own clothes into a duffle bag.
"You're afraid of Buffy," Dawn accused.
"We just think it would be a good idea if we didn't run into her at
this
point," Angel said.
"Not while she thinks we nicked her watcher," Spike said.
"And finds out you two are doing the beast with two backs," Dawn said
with a grin.
"Dawn," Spike said in shock, "what sort of language is that?"
"The sort you taught me."
"Okay then, just checking."
"I'm coming with," Dawn said.
"No you're not," Angel said.
"Somebody needs to distract Buffy and you're just the girl for the
job,"
Spike smiled winsomely at Dawn.
"Sure, throw me to the wolves," Dawn groused.
Angel grabbed the phone and rang reception to tell them they were
checking out and then dialled for a car as Spike finished packing.
"Spike did you get the stuff out of the bathroom?" Angel said as he
hung
up.
"Yep," Spike said returning to the room with an armful of soaps,
shampoos
and bathrobes.
"Our stuff," Angel said.
"Of course," Spike said offended, "you're nearly out of gel by the
way."
"I wouldn't be if you didn't keep using it," Angel grumbled, "I bought
you your own as well you know."
"Yours is better," Spike said. "What?" he said to Dawn who was
giggling.
"You argue like Buffy and I do," she said, "or like an old married
couple."
"You take that back," Spike said.
"Won't," she said screaming as Spike grabbed her and started tickling
her. "Uncle," she gasped, "alright you don't argue like Buffy and
I
do."
Spike let her up and then hugged her tight. "I missed you Bit,"
he
said.
"This time stay in touch," she said hugging him back, "both of you,"
she
added to Angel who was hovering at the door.
"We will," Angel said, "now we've got to go. Vivian of the firm's
London branch is going to have the mages waiting for us. The
car's
picking us up from the basement."
Spike slung an arm around Dawn as they headed out leaving Angel to
carry
the bags.
* * * * *
Four hours later they were in a Wolfram & Hart car heading out of
London still dazed from their encounter with Vivian. Who knew
that
under the tweed and pulled back hair lurked another Illona, right down
to
the impressive breasts.
Fortunately they had a lead on two magical signatures that matched
Giles
and Ethan heading for Cornwall and neither wanted to query just how
Wolfram & Hart had those signatures. Vivian had given them a
tracker for Giles and it seemed to indicate the two men had stopped
moving.
Spike was twitching without a cigarette to calm his nerves (thanks to
Angel refusing to let him smoke in the car) and Angel was gripping the
seatbelt for dear life (thanks to giving in to Spike's demands to
drive).
It was silent in the car since they couldn't decide on a radio station
that didn't offend one of them and Angel had accidentally lost Spike's
I-Pod. They had never really talked a lot about Buffy after the
whole who loved her most argument not long after Spike's return.
After all the intensity of their feelings it was a bit anti-climatic
that
now the major reason they didn't want to see her was that it would
cause
a scene and possibly upset the other. Not that either was going
to
admit that.
Angel's stress levels were rapidly increasing under Spike's driving and
his carefully arranged hair was at risk from a nervous hand clutch at
any
moment.
"Spike could you take it easy," Angel finally said as they careered
over
the centreline again.
"I know what I'm doing," Spike said glaring at Angel.
"It would help if you kept your eyes on the road and your hands on the
steering wheel." Angel grabbed onto his seatbelt.
"Don't be such a pussy," Spike said grinning, "we're vampires remember,
it can't kill us."
"But we could kill someone," Angel said.
Spike sighed but turned his attention back to the road just in time to
see something leap onto the road. "Fuck." Spike pulled hard on
the
wheel to avoid the obstacle.
The car teetered on two wheels and then rolled over sliding along the
road on its roof sparks flying into the air with a dramatic screech of
metal. It came to a spinning halt in front of the jackrabbit
sitting in the road.
There was silence for a moment then the rabbit calmly hopped away and
the
air was coloured purple with swearing from inside the car.
Spike wiggled out of the side window and staggered around to the other
side of the car to help the cursing Angel out.
"This is just great," Angel said with a growl, "now what the hell do we
do?"
"Lift the car back onto its wheels, see if it still goes," Spike said
trying to brush Angel down and get the broken glass out of his clothes,
"it could be fine."
"You flipped it onto its roof, how could it be fine?"
"You never know, come on," Spike said.
Angel growled again and moved over to the car. Between them they
managed to lever the car back over with a loud crunch of metal.
They heard the sound of hissing and watched two tyres deflate and the
radiator spew steam.
"Okay so that looks terminal," Spike said.
"What the hell do we do know smart guy?" Angel said.
"Hitch a ride to the nearest town and call Wolfram & Hart to send
another car."
"This trip is going to totally blow my expense account," Angel said.
"You're the CEO," Spike looked at him sideways, "you shouldn't have a
limit."
"Well I do," Angel said. "You need to get our bags out in case it
explodes," he added looking at the car.
"Me, why me?"
"It won't matter if your clothes are ruined."
"Won't matter to you maybe," Spike said, "I happen to like my
clothes."
"How can you tell? Everything looks the same."
"Saves with the laundry. Some of us don't have CEO salaries to
replace clothes all the time."
"Some of us are just more careful with our belongings."
"By getting others to do their dirty work."
While they were arguing a large tour bus pulled up beside them.
The
door hissed open and a voice came from the driver's seat, "you folks
alright?"
They both turned in surprise which turned to horror when a hubbub
started
up inside the bus.
"Fancy you boys being on your way to Cornwall too," Maud's voice
drifted
down the bus.
"What a wonderful coincidence," Gladys could be heard as well, "first
we
pick up Dawn and now you, this trip is going to be such fun."
"Well hop on board boys," Maud said as they shook off the initial
shock.
Angel could tell by Spike's considering look that he was estimating how
far they could run ahead of the bus. He shook his head briefly in
warning.
"I'll get our bags then," Spike said.
"I'll help," Angel said suddenly not caring about the state of his
clothes. "It's no good," he whispered to Spike as they forced the
boot open, "they've got our scent now."
Spike sighed and trudged towards the bus and into the terrifying
embrace
of Soul Rights.
Inside they found the twenty members of the group and a very sheepish
looking Dawn.
"Buffy was really pissed," Dawn whispered as they sat down, "I
distracted
her and went to warn the ladies. They were going on a bus tour so
I
thought it would be a good idea to make myself scarce before Buffy came
back from her wild goose chase. I'll go back when she's had a
chance to calm down."
"Bad?" Spike whispered back.
"She didn't know who to be angriest with which is why I managed to
escape
without her asking what I was doing there," Dawn admitted.
The bus carried on while Angel rang and told Wolfram & Hart where
to
find the damaged car. Spike obsessively checked the tracker to
see
if the bus was veering off their path giving them an excuse to
leave.
"What's that?" Dawn asked pointing to the tracker.
"It's like a magic GPS tracking device. Ethan seems to have taken
Giles to Cornwall," Spike said.
"Cornwall sound just wonderful," Maud said turning around in her seat,
"we decided to take the Arthurian tour first. It's all so
terribly
romantic."
"Reggie booked us through Demon tours," Gladys added, "They have these
wonderful necro temperature buses and a full itinerary of quaint B
&
B's that understand our dietary needs."
"And we got a discount because they recognised us from the Soul Rights
campaign," Maud said triumphantly as her needles flew.
"Now where were we?" Gladys asked the bus at large.
"Summer Holiday," somebody said.
"Wonderful," Maud beamed, "Dave if you'd like to lead off again."
To Spike's horror the bus erupted into a rendition of the Cliff Richard
song.
Two hours later they skirted the edge of the moor. Spike's eyes
were glazed over and Angel was staring longingly at the wide empty
space
the bus was passing imagining the peace and sanctuary the moors would
grant him.
The other bus passengers had worked their way through the entire back
catalogue of Cliff Richard tunes and moved onto the Beach Boys at which
point Angel had watched Spike's mind shut down in self defence.
Finally the singing had stopped but in the lull conversations had
started
up and somehow these were worse. The sounds of mundane life
washed
over them making Angel question his sanity at actually wanting
humanity.
It had been his dream for so long he had happily ignored the reality of
how ordinary life really was. Liam had fought against normality
and
the biggest part of Darla's allure was her promise to rescue him from
that. While he hated what he had done as Angelus at least now his
life was not ordinary and definitely not dull.
Angel nudged Spike trying to bring the other vampire back to him.
Spike edged closer to Angel one hand slipping into Angel's pocket, the
closest Spike would get to holding hands in public.
Angel fished out the tracker again hoping that the bus would have
turned
off the trail but it was as if the bus had its own tracking device
pulling them towards Giles and Ethan with the whole of Soul Rights.
Angel would have taken great pleasure descending on Giles and Ethan
with
the whole bus to teach the mage a lesson if he didn't suspect Spike
would
crack before then and then who would stop him from staking them?
Even if it was like being an inmate on day release from an asylum.
The bus turned off the road and pulled up outside an old farmhouse as
the
sky started to lighten.
"I am sure they will have room for the two of you as well," Maud said
confidently as everyone clambered out of the bus and stretched out the
kinks.
A matronly looking woman bustled out of the farmhouse to welcome
them. She smiled wide and revealed more teeth than you would
normally expect from a farmer's wife.
Maud bustled over to greet her and it was like watching two large
sailing
ships docking with each other. Both faces fell as the
conversation
continued and they turned to face Angel and Spike.
"This could be it," Spike whispered to Angel, "we could be free
soon."
Then both faces cleared and they were back to smiling at whatever
suggestion had been made.
Maud returned to the two vampires who had been joined by a very sleepy
Dawn.
"Dawn can bunk in with us without a problem," Maud said to Dawn's
horror,
"but unfortunately you boys will have to bunk down in the barn."
"That's alright," Angel said, "we can call for a new car and just wait
in
the bus."
"Don't be silly," Maud said, "you wouldn't be comfortable waiting
there. There are quarters in the barn that Millicent assures me
are
perfectly comfortable especially for vampires. There are no
windows
which is why she didn't offer it to begin with. It has a nice bed
and Millicent will rustle up some blood for you before you get some
sleep."
Spike and Angel found themselves swept along by Maud and Millicent as
Gladys organised the others into the house.
The room in the barn was surprisingly nice. It appeared to be a
converted tack room and had a small bathroom tucked into one
corner. Millicent went into the barn and returned with a milk urn
brimming with fresh blood from a donor cow.
"You two boys make yourselves comfortable and get some sleep," she
said,
"by what Maud had been telling me you've had a traumatic time," she
tutted, "I'll wake you up in time for breakfast."
Then they were finally alone. Spike collapsed onto the bed with a
sigh. "I'm going to kill Giles when I find him," he said to
Angel,
"then we can go home."
"Home sounds nice," Angel said sitting beside him.
"How far away is he?" Spike asked.
Angel peered at the tracker, "maybe fifty miles I think."
"So we buy, borrow or steal a car tomorrow night and find the
bastard."
For once Angel didn't disagree or tell Spike off for suggesting grand
theft auto. "We should get some sleep," he said pouring some of
the
blood into mugs on the bedside table.
"After a shower," Spike said.
"We don't know how much hot water there is," Angel said.
"Then we should share to conserve," Spike said stripping off his tee
shirt.
"Good idea," Angel said watching Spike hungrily.
Spike finished his mug of blood and held it out for another.
"Shouldn't let Millicent's hospitality go to waste."
Angel poured him another and started taking his own clothes off.
Spike found some towels and turned the shower on kicking his own boots
and jeans off.
Angel's hunger quickly shifted from blood to something even more primal
when those strong pale legs came into view and he caught a glimpse of
the
heavy balls hanging between them.
Spike heard the growl and turned around in time to see the hunger in
Angel's eyes and the evidence of his appreciation rising out of the
dark
curls at his groin.
Spike grinned and backed into the shower showing Angel just how much
Angel's appreciation affected him. Angel growled again and
followed
Spike into the small shower. He pushed the blond against the far
wall and dropped to his knees to lick across the evidence of Spike's
arousal.
No matter how many times he did this the thrill was still as great as
the
first time for Angel. Kneeling in a submissive manner to Spike
being able to see and smell the effect this had on the blond, hell the
effect it had on him. Then the power it gave him over Spike, the
power to strike the irrepressible blond speechless to make him shake
with
need and not fear or anger. This was a power he had never
understood as Angelus the power of weakness. And the power of
sharing with someone who was his equal in everything although he still
wasn't sure how that had happened.
But when he took Spike's cock into his mouth and saw the awe and love
in
the blue eyes despite everything that had been between them he was
humbled and aroused beyond measure. Spike's hands in his hair
weren't about control but about keeping the water out of his eyes and
the
thought of the level of love that meant scared him enough to never be
afraid of losing his soul. Not because he couldn't be perfectly
happy with Spike but because he was. Both as demon and man he was
happy and his soul didn't want to leave.
Spike could see a thousand thoughts racing through Angel's mind as he
knelt there. It sometimes terrified Spike how much he gave to
Angel. More even than he ever gave to Drusilla or Buffy, complete
with the knowledge that Angel could destroy him utterly. With
Buffy
he kept coming back no matter how much she knocked him down knowing her
addiction was as strong as his was until that last moment because he
knew
that she couldn't love him the way he wanted her to. With Angel he
didn't
have that protection if Angel knocked him down now it would be with the
full understanding of the love between them and Spike would not get up
from that.
Finally however he was beginning to believe that Angel would not knock
him down. When he watched Angel kneel in front of him willingly
to
give him pleasure. Not for some kinky sex kick although those
were
bloody good, but because Angel enjoyed giving him pleasure.
Nobody
had ever enjoyed giving him pleasure before. Dru had enjoyed
giving
him pain and he had thought that was pleasure until Buffy. Until
Buffy only took his pain and pleasure for her own need to feel.
When she had knelt before him it had felt amazing but she had only done
it when he could not see her eyes.
Then all thought vanished when Angel swallowed all of Spike's cock and
sucked in his cheeks for maximum contact. Spike let go of Angel's
hair and his hands slapped against the wall of the shower scrabbling
for
purchase as Angel attempted to suck his brains out through his
cock. Spike's eyes closed then flashed open again, the blond
determined not to miss a moment of what Angel was doing.
Angel's hands were rolling his balls around and pressing against that
spot just behind them which seemed connected to the spot inside him and
he was gasping and babbling without any care for who might
overhear. Then he was cursing a blue streak when Angel's mouth
was
removed until a small bottle of shower gel was shoved into his hand as
Angel shuffled them around.
"Want you to fuck me Spike, need you to claim me back again," Angel
said
one hand furiously pumping his own cock.
Once again Spike was struck speechless and he almost lost all his grace
as he fumbled with the gel his eyes firmly fixed on the dark valley
between Angel's buttocks.
Angel spread his legs as far as he could to get the angle right for
Spike
desperate to feel the younger vampire filling him up. A slick
blunt
head pressed against his entrance and he relaxed to welcome it pushing
back to take Spike in.
Spike's hands gripped hard on Angel's hips as he slid slowly
inside. It had been a frustrating couple of days without this
much
needed connection with Angel and he didn't think he was going to last
long. By the small sounds coming from Angel's throat and the
tightness around his cock it didn't seem that Angel was going to last
long either and that made up Spike's mind for him.
Pulling back so that only the head of his cock was still inside Angel
Spike thrust back in again and then repeated the action.
The long pounding thrusts hit Angel's prostate every time and felt as
good on the inward stroke as the outward. One hand was holding
his
hip in a vice grip the other had a looser but no less determined grip
on
his cock. All the tension of the past two days leached away with
every pound of Spike's cock and Angel pushed back enthusiastically
fucking himself into Spike's fist as he felt an orgasm bubbling in his
tightening balls.
Spike felt the ripples of Angel's orgasm around his cock before he felt
the sticky release on his fingers and the clenching around his shaft
was
all it took for him to follow Angel.
Panting they held their position until Angel's knees reminded him of
their existence and Spike's softening cock slipped free. Angel
stood upright with a sigh and turned around to let Spike rest against
his
chest. The rapidly chilling water reminded them they had a
perfectly good bed waiting and they quickly finished washing and turned
the shower off.
The small space was not useful for drying off so Angel moved into the
bedroom with his towel leaving Spike the last of the warmth in the
bathroom. He had just finished pulling on sleep pants and started
towelling off his hair when the door to the room was flung open and a
small avenging angel crashed through.
"Where the hell is my sister and watcher?" Buffy demanded striding into
the room, "what have you done with them?"
"Buffy," Angel said with surprise, "how did you find us?"
"Willow," Buffy replied angrily, "and don't avoid the question."
Before Angel could reply Spike walked in carefully knotting his towel
around his waist. Buffy was instantly distracted. Her face
softened briefly as she took in all of Spike then she strode over to
him
and punched him in the nose.
"What the hell?" Spike demanded feeling his bruised flesh.
"That's for not telling me you were alright," Buffy said.
Angel had stepped forward at the punch putting himself in range of
Buffy's fist as well. "What was that for?" Angel said in muffled
complaint.
"That's for thinking once again that you knew what was best for me,"
she
said. "Now answer the question. Where are Dawn and Giles?"
she advanced on Angel threateningly.
"Dawn's in the farmhouse getting some sleep I expect," Spike said
interrupting her advance and calling her attention back. "Giles
is
about fifty miles from here most likely with Ethan. What did you
think we had done with them?"
"How the hell was I supposed to know?" Buffy said angrily. "I get
a
hysterical call to tell me the two of you appeared at the Council
headquarters with a bunch of demons and my sister. You leave with
Giles who never returns. What was I supposed to think?"
"Could you have possibly asked first and punched later?" Angel asked
with
the hint of a glare.
"Not her style, remember," Spike said with a resigned tone.
"I forgot," Angel said with a wry grin.
"She's the slayer she's supposed to not trust us."
"Or Giles by the sounds of it. He is a big boy you know."
Buffy watched the exchange with puzzlement and then what was in front
of
her started to sink in. Angel and Spike were basically naked,
there
was only one bed that she could see, neither vampire was arguing with
each other and neither had any hair products. She tried to shake
the image of both vampires sharing the one bed and hold onto her anger
and fear for Dawn and Giles.
Before Buffy could say anything a crowd came pouring into the barn led
by
a very concerned Maud and Gladys.
"Is everything alright?" Gladys said looking at Buffy grimly reminding
Spike and Angel that this woman had held a vampire to ransom with her
knitting needles and made him turn Maud rather than let her die.
Buffy's slayer senses were going crazy but her eyes were telling her
that
little old ladies in pink dressing gowns with rollers in their hair
couldn't be vampires.
Dawn pushed through wearing pyjamas with ducks on them, "Buffy what are
you doing here?"
"I came looking for you and Giles," Buffy said.
"I left you a note," Dawn said.
"Telling me that Spike and Angel would bring Giles back and not to
worry," Buffy said with a frown.
"God we were lucky she didn't stake us immediately," Spike whispered to
Angel.
Maud beamed at Buffy, "you're Dawn's big sister, well this is a
treat. It was wonderful to chat with Mr Giles but a comfy chat
with
the eldest slayer is so much more useful."
Before Buffy knew what was happening she had been surrounded by the
others and ushered out of the barn leaving Spike and Angel alone.
"Do you think she realised what was going on between us?" Spike
asked.
"I think it was beginning to sink in," Angel replied grabbing his
phone.
"What are you doing?"
"Screw the expense account," Angel said, "I'm ordering a
helicopter. We'll leave the tracker for Buffy to find Giles with
and get out of here before anyone else turns up."
"I knew I loved you for a reason," Spike said pulling on his jeans and
stuffing everything back into his bag.
* * * * *
"Should we feel guilty about abandoning Buffy to Soul Rights?" Spike
asked as the helicopter swept them away.
"Not one bit," Angel replied, "she brought it on herself by not
trusting
us again and it will do her good."
"You think Giles is alright?"
"I think Giles is a big boy and could do with a bit of loosening up and
Ethan appeared to be just the man to do it."
"True enough, worked pretty well for you with me didn't it?"
"I didn't need that much loosening up," Angel said in outrage.
"True, I don't want you too loose," Spike said with a leer.
"Spike!"
"What?"
"Don't ever change."
