Party Favours

Angel fussed with his tie for the third time and paced the floor of the apartment nervously.

"Come on Spike, we're going to be late we have to be there before the guests," he called into the bedroom.

"Keep your shirt on," was the irritated response as Spike strode into the living room fumbling with his shirt cuff. He looked up to find Angel staring at him. "What?" he demanded nervously.

Angel stared at Spike in amazement. Gone was the usual tee shirt and leather jacket, instead Spike had donned a white tuxedo shirt over his black jeans. The shirt was secured at his throat by a vivid blue sapphire on a black ribbon and he was struggling to secure gold cufflinks on the cuffs.

"Don't just stand there staring," Spike told him "help me with these damn cufflinks."

Angel shook himself out of his surprise and moved forward to help. As he fixed on the cufflinks Angel also noticed that Spike had eased up on the hair gel and allowed a small amount of curl back into his hair.

"Spike, you look amazing," Angel finally managed to get out as he stepped back to get another view.

"Yeah well, I'm only doing this for you so don't you forget it," Spike grumbled unable to hide his pleasure at the compliment.

Spike moved closer to Angel and adjusted his tie. "You trying to strangle yourself or something?"

Angel grinned in embarrassment, "I really don't like these events," he confessed.

"I'm not much for them myself but we have to do this," Spike agreed as he fastened a blood red ruby pin to Angel's tie.

Angel looked down at the gem in surprise.

"Gifts from Cleo," Spike explained. "Similar type of spell to the one she put on the apartment. Nobody will be able to listen in to conversations we have between ourselves while we are at the party."

Angel grinned and ran his fingers through Spike's hair, tousling the curls up further.

"Oi," Spike complained and moved his head back to look Angel in the eyes.

Angel stared back and heat began to build between the two vampires again. Angel leant down and kissed Spike gently on the lips, deepening it as Spike responded with a soft growl.

"Take it easy there," Spike pulled away from the kiss reluctantly. "Didn't you say we were going to be late?"

"Hell," Angel rested his forehead against Spike's for a moment. "Being CEO of an evil law firm can be so annoying some times."

Spike kissed Angel hard and quick, "I like this Angel far more than the others I have met," he laughed.

Angel grinned and they headed out the door.

At the Party

Conversations came to a halt as Angel and Spike entered the ballroom, both vampires practically glowed with vitality and the connection between them was almost tangible.

Lorne rushed over to them with a cry of pleasure.

"Cupcakes," he enthused, "you look good enough to eat. Everyone is here and the guests are due any minute. Do you want anything to drink or eat for starters?"

Spike nodded enthusiastically and headed straight for the bar. Lorne sighed appreciatively as he and Angel watched him go.

"How did you manage to get the boy into such perfect threads?"

"Not my doing," Angel confessed.

"That would have been mine," a voice from behind them spoke up.

They turned around to see Cleo standing there. She was dressed in a shot silver slip dress with a large emerald scarab brooch pinned to her shoulder.

"Thank you for arranging this Lorne, everything looks perfect," Cleo shook his hand warmly. "Angel, you look devastatingly handsome as usual," Cleo leaned in and kissed him on the lips.

"Cleo," Angel returned the embrace, "how did you manage to get him out of his coat and tee shirt?"

"Bribery and corruption," Cleo laughed, "Spike does love shiny things. I told him he could only have the sapphire if he teamed it with something appropriate."

They all stared at Spike who was lounging at the bar talking to Lindsey.

"Cleo was right Lorne, everything looks perfect," Angel dragged his eyes away from Spike to admire what Lorne had done with the ballroom.

The walls were hung with huge banners in a medieval style with heraldic designs. Angel's eyes widened as he recognised several of the designs as belonging to the vampire families including Aurelius.

"Where did you get the designs from?" Angel asked Lorne with surprise.

"Spike mentioned them to me and Wesley did the research. They look pretty impressive don't they?" Lorne beamed.

There was a jazz quartet playing on a raised dais and the tables were set with bone white plates, gold cutlery and cut crystal glasses. Waiting staff were standing by to serve the guests their choice of beverage and guide them to their seats.

Lorne quickly organised Angel and Cleo at the entranceway to head the receiving line and dragged Spike over to join them. The three vampires made an impressive sight standing together. Cleo, tall and statuesque her dark skin a perfect foil for the two who flanked her. Spike, porcelain pale the sapphire reflected his eyes and his fine sharp features. Angel's skin was almost golden in comparison, warmed by the charcoal suit and blood ruby.

Together they looked like ancient gods awaiting tribute from their worshippers. Cleo was all grace and charm with the guests as they arrived, greeting them all by name and introducing them to Angel and Spike. Angel was more aloof as benefited his newly acquired status as head of the Order of Aurelius.

Spike excited the most interest; he dealt with the attention reasonable well except for when an individual got too close and stared too hard. Then he would stiffen up and start to glower at the offender until they backed off. Angel would deal with the persistent ones by moving closer to Spike and simply staring.

Cleo smiled with pleasure at the possessive display both vampires gave off without realising they were doing it. Spike watched carefully whenever one of the guests was small and blonde and Angel visibly glowered when anyone looked at Spike twice.

When Christian Lombardi arrived he barely looked at Angel so intent was he on getting to Spike. Angel moved so that he was shoulder to shoulder with Spike and glared. Even Christian could not miss the display and he quirked an amused smile at Angel and moved on.

Spike relaxed slightly against Angel then straightened up and elbowed Angel. "Get your own space," he muttered to Angel who realised how close they were and stepped back with embarrassment.

The line finally came to an end and Spike quickly made himself scarce before Angel could stop him.

Cleo snagged Angel and took him around to meet people. Angel found it easier to mix and mingle with Cleo around, she kept things flowing and always seemed to know the right conversation for each group.

Angel began to relax but his eyes kept scanning the crowd.

"He is fine," Cleo assured him, "I saw him talking with Lindsey. Is that a problem?" She asked at Angel's frown.

"Probably not but for some reason I am nervous when those two get together. Both of them are notorious for scheming and it always seems to be me on the receiving end," Angel explained wryly.

Cleo laughed at Angel's expression and Angel followed her, unable to resist her delight.

The look of amazement on the faces around them made Cleo laugh even more.

Angel looked at her with suspicion.

"They are not used to seeing you with a smile Angelus," Cleo explained and Angel smiled self-consciously.

Fred and Wesley approached they both were smiling but there was a slight apprehensive cast to their look that Angel recognised.

"Still souled guys," he reassured them. "They are really only used to seeing me laugh in my unsouled state," Angel explained to Cleo.

Cleo studied him with interest, "are your two sides so different then?"

"Angelus is an insane killer," Wesley said bluntly.

"He wasn't always but something happened with the curse," Angel explained unhappily.

Cleo looked thoughtful but did not say anything. As one Cleo and Angel both stiffened and turned to the ballroom entrance.

"Connor?" Angel headed for the door at a near run with Cleo right beside him.

Standing at the door looking slightly uncomfortable but very curious was Connor. Before Angel and Cleo could reach him Spike materialised at his side.

Cleo placed a calming hand on Angel's arm and they both slowed down to observe the interchange between Spike and Connor.

"You're Connor right?" Spike looked at him with curiosity.

"Hi, yeah I am," Connor stuck his hand out. Spike looked startled then shook it. There was a moment of posturing as they both tried to get the strongest grip then Spike grinned.

"Just like your father," Spike slapped Connor on the back companionably.

Connor staggered slightly from the slap but recovered with a grin. "And you would be?"

"Oh yeah we never met proper like. I'm Spike, Angel is my sire," Spike replied with a challenge in his voice.

Angel moved forward with a smile on his face, "Connor, what brings you here?"

"You invited me?" Connor replied with a puzzled frown.

Angel looked at Cleo in confusion, she shook her head her head slightly.

"We are glad you are here Connor," Cleo stepped in to cover the awkwardness. "Let Fred and Wesley get you a drink and we will catch up with you soon." Cleo handed Connor over to the couple.

"We have so much to catch up on like your whole life," Fred babbled nervously.

"It's okay Fred," Connor reassured her, "this will take a lot of adapting by all of us. It was nice to meet you Spike."

Spike blinked, "I think he meant that huh?" he sounded surprised.

"Who invited him?" Angel hissed. They looked at each other and shook their heads. "Check with Lorne, somebody is playing us and I don't like it."

"Calm down Angelus, we will sort it out," Cleo spoke with authority. "Perhaps they know little and are hoping to learn more from our reactions," she hazarded.

"I'll go talk to Lorne," Spike volunteered.

"Make sure Connor sits with us and he is never to be left on his own," Angel ordered oblivious to Spike's eye roll.

"Perhaps you are right," Angel turned to Cleo, "People will remember Connor being at the office and it may have caused talk. We need to know who breached security and got him the invitation though."

They continued to work through the crowd as Cleo was adamant that they had to convince everyone that nothing was wrong. Angel's push through people to get to Connor would have been noticed and commented on.

Spike talked to Lorne and then Lindsey before returning to Angel's side. He stopped on the way to chat to various vampires and demons he recognised but quickly rejoined Angel and Cleo.

"Nobody has a clue," he said when he got there. "Lorne is arranging a roster to keep an eye on the whelp and Lindsey is checking the invitations for forgery," he reassured Angel.

Angel continued to scan the crowd as they continued walking but the presence of Spike and Cleo seemed to calm him and he was able to smile and greet people without difficulty.

A signal from Lorne moved them all to the dining room where tables had been set out. Lorne and Wesley had seated everyone by alliance and dietary requirements in an effort to avoid offending anyone.

The quartet moved into the dining room to continue serenading the guests.

Angel found he was sitting next to Cleo with Spike on his other side and Connor sitting next to Spike. The rest of the table was Gunn, Fred, Wesley, Wulfric, Harmony, Lorne, Lindsey and Eve.

The vampires were served in ornate glass and pewter goblets adorned with the Aurelius crest. The humans tucked into an array of tempting foods which Spike also helped himself from with obvious relish.

To everyone's delight Spike picked a few treats and fed them to Angel. Every time Angel opened his mouth to protest Spike would pop something in forcing Angel to be polite and chew.

Spike and Connor began a heated discussion about a band Angel had never heard of. Fred teased Spike about being an eternal teenager when everyone at the table confessed their ignorance. The conversation around the table was relaxed and informal and Angel was able to relax and enjoy being surrounded by the people who he loved.

Half way through the meal Spike excused himself claiming a need for a cigarette. A few minutes later Lindsey left the table as well. Angel's eyes narrowed as he watched Lindsey head in the same direction as Spike had gone.

When neither returned Angel began to get restive. He was about to stand when Lorne beat him to it and headed for the small stage where the quartet were playing. Cleo placed a hand on Angel's arm and he waited to see what Lorne had to say.

"Honoured guests," Lorne began getting everyone's attention. "On behalf of the order of Aurelius, the Ptolemy family and Wolfram & Hart I would like to welcome you all here on this fine evening. We have not planned much in the way of formal entertainment but I am thrilled to announce these two gentlemen. They have graciously agreed to serenade us today, so give a warm welcome to Wolfram & Hart's own Lindsey McDonald and Spike!"

Angel sat stunned as Lindsey and Spike walked up to the stage to polite applause, they were both still in their evening attire and carrying cocktail glasses.

The jazz quartet struck up a jaunty tune that Angel recognised with surprise. "Cole Porter, I didn't think Spike even knew who he was?" Angel whispered to Cleo.

"I have heard among this clan
You are called the forgotten man,"

Lindsey began singing.

"That's what they're saying?
Well did you ever?"

Spike jumped in.

"What a swell party this is,"

Lindsey continued.

They swung into the Cole Porter classic, "Did You Evah?" with complete humour and enjoyment. And their enthusiasm soon had the room smiling and tapping their feet.

Lindsey had a very noticeable country twang to his voice but it managed to work with Spike's smoother tones. Angel could only listen and watch in amazement as Spike was transformed into Gene Kelly crooning with the best of them.

When they finished Angel was the first to his feet to applaud the two performers with Gunn and the others right behind him. Lindsey and Spike bowed gallantly to acknowledge the applause before draining their cocktail glasses.

"Thank you very much," Lindsey grabbed hold of the microphone. "Spike and I have prepared a few numbers for your entertainment pleasure. Due to the diverse nature of our audience and our own musical tastes we have selected a variety of songs. Next we are going down country..."

Spike took two guitars and cowboy hats from Lorne beside the stage. Lindsey removed his jacket and Spike rolled up the sleeves of his tuxedo shirt before they slung the guitar straps over their shoulders and topped it off with the cowboy hats as everyone settled back into their seats.

They started a very country guitar rift as Lindsey stepped up to the mike and began singing.

"It's wetter than wet
As spring rolls along.
It's hotter than hell
Than when we met last fall.
Gets better and better
Every time we touch."

Spike joined in and their two voices blended again with an ease that suggested some practice.

"A sticky situation we're in
Trapped in the car and it's raining again.
And every time it stops
Lord I miss it so much.
I'm gonna take the top off,
Run in the barn man...
Sweet Carolina rain..."

Lindsey's voice was pure country with a soft twang that was complemented by Spike's smoother blues tones.

At the end of the song it was Fred up on her feet first, whistling and hollering like the good old girl she was.

"Did you know they were going to do this?" Wulfric asked Angel with a grin.

"No," Angel confessed, "and I don't know how they managed to rehearse without my knowledge."

"Both those boys can be as sneaky as rattlesnakes," Fred said fondly as she sat down.

"Lorne must have known," Wesley added, "he would have heard them both sing and he was trying to convince Spike last week. I wonder what he bribed them with."

Spike stepped up to the mike next and kicked into a blues rift that Lindsey followed effortlessly.

"There are walls just to get to you
You can hit me till I'm black and blue
You set me up, not gonna fall
Run away
Went to sleep a long time ago
Several years since I hurt anybody
Don't wake me up let me sleep
Won't do you no good
Just keep to myself
Nobody want a part of this
It's hard to be a civilized man
Times I wanna be just what I am.
Woah catch yourself
Wanna wind up in jail?
Better smile and watch football
Civilised man
I ain't no civilized man
Civilised man
Wasn't born to be a civilized man"

Angel smiled at the lyrics in the song, knowing Spike sang for him on that one and he was the first on his feet to applaud them at the end.

Spike grinned and took a bow as he looked straight at Angel.

"This will be our last song for the night," Spike said as he straightened. "It's an oldie but a goodie, hope you enjoy it." There was a spark of mischief in Spike's eyes that had Angel feeling very nervous.

When Lindsey and Spike began to play Angel tried to sink into his seat as the humorous murmur spread around the table. They really got into the swing of the song and even managed to get a bit of a rock feel going.

"I remember all my life
Rainin' down as cold as ice
Shadows of a man
A face through a window
Cryin' in the night
The night goes into
Mornin', just another day
Happy people pass my way
Lookin' in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
How happy you made me, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without takin'
But I sent you away, oh Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shakin'
And I need you today, oh Mandy"

Everyone joined in with the chorus, Wesley and Gunn had tears streaming down their faces and were giggling like school girls. Every time they looked at Angel they started laughing again.

Angel glared at Spike but his expression softened as he saw how happy and relaxed everyone was at the table and how well the performance was going down with the other guests.

There was thunderous applause as Lindsey and Spike left the stage after taking their bows. They sauntered back to the table accepting accolades as they went.

Angel stood up when they reached the table one eyebrow raised questioningly to Spike who smirked at him.

"It was Spike's idea," Lindsey said cheerfully as he sat down.

"Sorry pet, just thought Lorne deserved to hear it done properly for once," Spike grinned, "he told me about Cariatas. 'Sides, wanted to sing something you would enjoy," he confessed.

Angel grinned at the confession and pulled Spike in for a quick hug, "you did an amazing job, both of you."

The rest of the evening passed quickly for the gang, most of the guests made the effort to come over and compliment Spike and Lindsey on their performance and have a few words with Cleo and Angel.

Finally it was over and only the gang remained. Angel pulled Spike and Lindsey aside to quiz them about Connor.

"The invite was real but it looked like it was tampered with," Lindsey answered.

"Lorne is going to go through the guest list tomorrow and see who didn't show," Spike added, "hopefully we can trace who got hold of the invite and why they sent it to Connor."

Angel went over to Connor who was chatting with Wulfric and Harmony.

Connor beamed at Angel, "thanks for tonight it was a blast," he said "Spike is amazing, why did I never meet him before?"

"He lived in Sunnydale," Angel explained.

"So he's your childe?" A shadow of memory crossed the back of Connor's eyes.

"He is now, it was... complicated," Angel looked embarrassed.

"I saw the way you two looked at each other," Connor laughed the shadow gone from his eyes, "I think if I can cope with the concept that my father is a vampire the fact that he is gay is not an issue."

"Not gay," Spike entered the conversation, "just a one off thing between the two of us. Always fancied birds before, can't speak for your dad although with that hair..." he explained thoughtfully.

Angel couldn't look Connor in the face which caused everyone to laugh.

"We're not gay, we're vampires..." Angel finished lamely as he realised that everybody in the room did in fact understand and were not condemning him.

"You gave me a chance to be happy, you deserve that chance too," Connor told Angel seriously.

Angel embraced Connor awkwardly, "Wesley and Fred will drive you home, thank you for coming tonight it made everything perfect."

Angel chased everyone out with a smile and turned to Spike, "about that song..."

"Have to catch me first," Spike laughed and sprinted out of the ballroom.

"Spike!" Angel chased after him.

They ran through the streets of L.A, two powerful predators moving faster than most people could even see.

Angel could smell Spike just ahead of him, that unique combination of leather, cigarettes and passion. Angel realised as he ran that he would always know Spike's scent, it had always been there in his memory.

Spike could feel Angel behind him, the rush of blood that always accompanied his feelings for Angel. The awareness of their connection even when Dru had been around, he always knew where Angel was.

They jumped from rooftops into alleyways, over fences dashing across motorways until they reached Spike's apartment.

They tumbled through the door together locked in a laughing embrace. Spike pinned Angel to the wall and kissed him hard.

They stilled and simply looked into each other's eyes reflecting the passion and love back to each other, desire building.

"It's going to get bad soon," Angel whispered.

"I know," Spike nodded fractionally, "so let's enjoy the moment."

Slowly they undressed each other still keeping the eye contact. Hands skimmed down flesh mapping and remembering every contour.

Spike broke eye contact first to follow every hand movement with his lips leaving burning trails of desire on Angel's skin. When he reached Angel's groin Spike rested his head for a moment against Angel's thigh nuzzling into the nest of curls simply inhaling Angel's scent.

With just the feel of Spike so close Angel felt himself harden and lift. Spike ran his hands around Angel's buttocks before suckling the head of Angel's cock into his mouth and then swallowing it down to the hilt.

Spike used his mouth and tongue to drive Angel wild, feathering the shaft with licks as he sucked up and down. Spike pulled right back til he was only holding the tip between his lips and looked up at Angel.

Angel was watching Spike and trying to keep his knees from buckling. When Spike looked up at him he groaned and pulled Spike back up onto his feet to kiss him passionately.

He took Spike's hand and walked back to the bedroom never once losing the eye contact. When his legs hit the bed Angel sat down bringing Spike's groin to eye level.

Angel mimicked everything Spike had done to his cock, feathering it with licks and sucking it deep into his mouth til his nose was nestled into Spike's curls.

Spike pushed Angel back til he was lying flat on the bed and Spike was straddling his chest. Slowly and regretfully Spike pulled his cock out of Angel's mouth and slid down Angel's body.

Once again they were eye to eye and lip to lip, "Are you mine?" Spike asked Angel huskily.

"Always," Angel replied and lifted his legs up to expose himself to Spike. Spike hissed with pleasure and slid down further so that he could run his tongue down to Angel's opening. Spike pulled Angel's buttocks apart to gain further access pushing his tongue past the first ring of muscle. Angel pushed up against Spike's tongue taking him deeper.

Spike jabbed his tongue in and out and then dragged it up against the sensitive skin below Angel's balls.

Scooping up the pre-cum leaking from both of their cocks Spike lubed himself and slowly pushed his cock into Angel. When he was fully sheathed Spike captured Angel's mouth for a gentle kiss.

"Only mine, only yours" Spike whispered into Angel's mouth as he began to move.

Angel pushed up to meet Spike's thrusts, the rhythm built quickly between them. Hands entwined together and lips never separated, Spike shifted position to brush Angel's prostate with every thrust and allow Angel's cock to rub against Spike's hip.

They both slipped into game face with shocked roars as orgasm rocked them without warning. Fangs sliced through lips and they both latched on tight to suckle the trickling blood, swapping it between mouths with their tongues.

Spike pulled his cock free and lay down between Angel's legs resting his head on Angel's chest.
