Summary: Following straight on from Reciprocation http://lilithbint.livejournal.com/55542.html#cutid1 , Spike and Angel attempt to discover if the attraction between them in the bar was due to being watched by Buffy or more.

* * * * *

They tested the theory when they reached the cars but Spike pointed out, when they finally broke lip contact, that there was still a possibility that they were being watched so it wasn't a true test.

Just to be sure Angel pinned Spike against the side of the convertible and sucked on the side of his neck dragging a series of very colourful swearwords out and getting a very hard cock pressed against his hip.

It should have disturbed them both Angel pointed out that they were now both aroused by kissing each other.  So Spike suggested they race back to Angel's penthouse and get some proper privacy to make sure.

For the first time Angel was grateful for the hours of driving around L.A he had suffered through during the time of Angel Investigations.  He might not be able to drive as insanely as Spike but he knew more shortcuts and was only a car length behind Spike when they both screamed into the underground car park.

This time Spike put Angel's imprint into the side of the car.  They both agreed that whatever the attraction was between them it was still there.  Then Angel pointed out that the car park had security cameras so it still wasn't a fair test.

They made it to the elevators by touch rather than sight since neither was prepared to stop kissing the other.

Spike was puzzled when Angel dragged him over to one particular elevator until Angel explained that it was the direct link to the penthouse and he had removed all surveillance devices from it which Wesley double checked every week to ensure no new ones had been added.

As soon as the doors had closed behind them Spike practically climbed on top of Angel, wrapping his legs around Angel's waist.  Angel groaned into Spike's mouth as their cocks came into contact.  Spike was practically trying to climb inside Angel's mouth and Angel was certainly not going to complain as Spike's tongue mapped out every inch.

Angel's hands were cupped under Spike's buttocks taking his weight and definitely enjoying the weight in his palms.

No longer needed to brace himself Spike's hands were getting on with the business of becoming more intimately acquainted with Angel's body.  They had popped buttons open and slipped inside to stroke across Angel's chest and then curl around the broad shoulders.

When the elevator doors opened they managed to manoeuvre out into the lobby of Angel's apartment and shed their jackets without separating.

"Oh my god..." A stunned voice froze them in place.

Releasing Angel's lips Spike turned his head to look at the very shocked and probably slightly turned on Dawn sitting on Angel's sofa.

"Dawnie..." Spike practically leapt off Angel which was quite lucky since Angel was in the process of dropping him.

Shaking off her shock Dawn launched herself at Spike.

Shaking off his own shock Spike managed to catch the bundle of tears and joy.

"You should have told us you were back... I'm sorry for what I said to you before... I'm sorry you didn't tell us... I wanted to thank you but you were gone and I couldn't ask you to forgive me..." Dawn sobbed into Spike's shoulder.

Angel had made to move around the reunion but one pale hand had reached out and grabbed him anchoring him in place.  The slight tremor Angel could feel told him how deeply Spike was feeling this moment and the memory of their kisses made him want to be there for the blond vampire.

Finally a teary eyes Dawn wiped her face on Spike's tee shirt and looked up at the shell shocked vampire.  "So do you forgive me?"

"Nothing to forgive Little Bit, like I told your sis, you had every right to hate me."

"Not to hate you," Dawn said, "angry yes but you deserved the benefit of the doubt as much as all of us did.  None of us were in a good place in Sunnydale.  Andrew said that you didn't contact us because you wanted to believe we would forgive you and didn't want to find out we still hated you and I was angry then I was angry at the others for immediately thinking you and Angel were evil..." Dawn took a deep breath as she remembered what she had seen.  "You and Angel!" she squealed, "did Buffy see that?"

"Something like that," Spike answered wincing at the squeal.

"Did she die?  I bet she died.  I nearly died when I saw you," Dawn said then she stopped and looked at them.  "But you both are in love with my sister.  Buffy gets all Romeo and Juliet about you Angel and all glassy eyed and blushing about you Spike."

Both vampires looked uncomfortably at each other.  "We all move on," Angel said finally, "it was never going to work with Buffy anyway."

"The whole vampire/slayer thing recipe for disaster really," Spike added.

"And it had nothing to do with you both fancying each other?  Oh my god I can't believe that Andrew was right!"

"Andrew was right about what?"

"When he drove me to the airport he kept making weird quotes about Obi Wan and Vader.  I thought he was just being his usual geek self but I needed the ride so I ignored him.  How is it that he knows so much?"

"You lot always underestimated him and kept forgetting he was there.  Kid sees more than most even if it is seen through very scary rose coloured glasses," Spike said.

"Does Buffy know you are here?" Angel asked.

Dawn looked a bit uncomfortable at the question. "If she has already gone back to Rome then she probably knows," she answered.

"Are you trying to give her a reason to stake us Bit?" Spike asked in resignation.

"No but I had to know that you were alright and know that you forgave me for what I said."

"Told you there was nothing to forgive, Niblet." Spike hugged her again.

Dawn sighed as Angel handed her a phone.  "Call her and tell her you are alive and will be returning to Rome tomorrow," Angel said.  "Don't try pouting it doesn't work for Spike so it is not going to work for you."

Both Spike and Dawn smirked at Angel's words, but Dawn obediently took the phone and dialled.

"Hey Buffy, it's me... yes I'm fine... no nothing has happened to me... Spike and Angel are taking good care of me..." Dawn held the phone away from her ear.  "Buffy I am an adult now I can make my own decisions... Angel is going to send me home tomorrow... No I don't want Willow to transport me home... no Buffy... goodbye Buffy... I'll see you tomorrow Buffy."  Dawn hung up the phone with a snap.

"Go alright then?" Spike asked with a not so innocent grin.

"Just fine thank you.  Buffy's been so busy training the new slayers she is starting to sound like a mom." Dawn rolled her eyes.  "Now I need to use the bathroom, don't worry I know where it is I had plenty of time to explore waiting for you lovebirds to return."

Spike looked at Angel with a grin at the stunned look on the elder vampire's face.  "You never really experienced the full force of the Dawninator did you?"

"Is she always like this?" Angel asked.

"Pretty much.  So how many bedrooms does this place have?"

"Two," Angel answered.

"Alright then, the couch looks comfortable enough for me." Spike dropped down onto it and bounced experimentally.

"Huh?" Angel looked confused, "you don't have to, we could share," he suggested.

Spike looked outraged, "with Dawn in the house?"

"We don't have to do anything," Angel said, "it will just be more comfortable." He looked decidedly uncomfortable at the conversation.

"Dawn and I are likely to be up half the night anyway catching up.  You sure you don't mind me coming to bed late?"

They stared at each other for a moment adjusting to the strange domesticity of the conversation.

"Just don't wake me and I'll be fine.  Do you think Dawn will be hungry?  I don't have a lot of human food but we could order in," Angel suggested.

"Ooh take out," Dawn came back into the room, "I know the best Chinese takeaway restaurant in L.A."

A large meal later Angel sat back and watched a very different Spike from the one he was used to seeing.  They had argued for a few minutes about Dawn having a glass of wine which Dawn won by using a pout that Angel recognised as part Buffy and part Spike.

This Spike was more relaxed and less defensive than any Spike Angel had seen.  Angel had been granted a small glimpse in the hospital after Dana and very briefly after Buffy left the bar, but this was more and he could only hope he would see more in the future because he kind of liked it.

Even during the excited catch up with Dawn Spike was aware of Angel watching him.  It was strange to feel Angel watching him without the usual prickle of unease it normally caused.  For a start Angel appeared to be smiling at him which was not normal, and there was a heat to the gaze that had Spike shifting in his seat.

As much as he loved Dawn and was happy to see her, he really wished she had turned up a day later.  Giving him and Angel a chance to finish what they had started, however that had been going to work.

Angel finally gave up the fight and headed for bed.  He kissed Dawn goodnight and gave Spike another heated glance which drew another giggle from Dawn.

With Angel gone the conversation returned to events in Sunnydale before the end.  Dawn cried again and Spike had to blink a lot to clear his vision due to the not drinking enough alcohol.

Slowly Dawn began to droop with exhaustion and Spike finally had to carry her into the spare bedroom and put her to bed.  Dawn hooked her hands around Spike's neck and pulled him down, "don't stay away so long again okay?" she kissed him softly on the cheek, "and I think you and Angel look really good together."

Spike slipped into Angel's bedroom and stood uncertainly by the bed for a moment.

"You coming to bed or not?" Angel asked him.

"Just remembering the last time I stood here," Spike admitted.

"When you were still a ghost?"

"Yeah, we kind of talked then even though you were pissed I was there."

"It was actually nice," Angel confessed, "even though you did piss me off."

Spike quickly shed his clothes and climbed into bed with Angel.  They lay stiffly in the bed together, neither entirely certain exactly what happened next.

As always it was Spike who couldn't wait and Spike who rolled onto his side to kiss Angel.  Angel kissed back with relief and enthusiasm.  This kissing would have gone on longer except that they both realised that they were naked... naked and kissing.  They pulled apart and stared wild-eyed at each other.

"Um..." Angel started but couldn't think of anything to say.

"Yeah..." Spike added and fell silent.

Angel never bothered with the blinds in his bedroom and the moonlight covered Spike's body in silver paint, "you're beautiful." Angel couldn't stop the words from saying what the artist's eye had always known.

Spike smiled a small twisted smile that said he didn't really believe Angel but was flattered anyway.  Then his gaze grew hot and serious as he let it wander over Angel's moon washed body.

"And you look good enough to eat," Spike said with a soft growl that went straight to Angel's cock.

Lips returned to where they wanted to be, locked together and sharing tongues.  Legs tangled together so that cocks pressed hard against cold flesh working up heat between them.

It was different and strange and felt just about perfect to both of them, as perfect as it could get with their souls and their history.  Hands entwined and they were content to kiss and rock against each other as the heat built.

Stale cigarettes and whiskey only slightly masked the real taste of Spike and Angel couldn't believe how good it was.  Like a fine red wine rich and thick on the tongue with just a hint of cherries.

Spike pulled one hand down still holding Angel's and took hold of both of their cocks.  He didn't want to think about what was happening and he definitely didn't want Angel thinking about it or it was guaranteed to go hideously wrong.

Together they pumped their cocks marvelling in the feel and the texture and just how amazing it felt.  Angel couldn't concentrate on kissing Spike and the sensations around his cock so he reluctantly let his head fall back freeing the moan of pleasure from his mouth.  Ever the opportunist Spike latched onto Angel's throat and started to suckle at the sensitive skin there.

Babble was now coming out of Angel's mouth and he pumped their cocks faster.

"Fuck." Spike released Angel's throat and started to pump his hips in time with Angel's movements.

The feel of Spike's release spilling over their hands was enough for Angel's balls to tighten and his own load mingled with Spike's.

Both panting for unneeded breath Spike let his forehead rest against Angel's.

"If you two are finished in there..." Dawn's voice floated through the wall, "some of us are trying to get to sleep."

"Oh god." Mortified blue eyes met brown.

"She is never going to let us forget this is she?" Angel asked.

"Not a chance and do you have any idea what we are going to have to bribe her with to keep her mouth shut?"

"I don't care about that," Angel said to Spike's surprise, "I just don't know if I can look her in the face tomorrow."

"You don't care if people find out?" Spike could scarcely believe what he had heard.

"No, do you?" Angel asked anxiously.

"No, I just thought you would."

"They have to find out some time, and I doubt Buffy will keep quiet either." Angel smiled wryly.

"Fair enough." Spike grinned and untangled himself from Angel.  "That was fucking amazing but we better clean up and get some sleep.  Dawn is going to put us through hoops tomorrow."

Angel smiled and kissed away the last of the insecurity on Spike's face.  Telling the others might be difficult but if he wanted to keep the volatile blond in his bed, and he really did, they would have to face it.

Spike curled up beside Angel still trying to process everything that had happened and then he decided he didn't really care.  There was a lot to sort out and lots more to experience, but right at that moment things couldn't be anymore right.
