By Marie Nomad Pete Wisdom was in England looking at a time travel device left by some aliens called the Shi'ar. Suddenly the device hummed and the surroundings vanished. He awoke in a middle of a huge forest. The tall pines reached the sky and the snow topped the branches in piles. He got up and started to walk. He walked around in the cold weather. He couldn't remember who he was or where he's from. All he could remember was the name 'Katherine', another name 'Pete' something, and his mutant power. The freezing climate was getting to him. All he was wearing was a black suit and all that was in his pockets was a pack of cigarettes. He felt grateful for his mutant power to create hot knives to keep him warm. In the distance he saw a house. It was a two-story house, white with red shutters. He entered hoping to find something familiar. He knocked on the door hoping that someone was home. A young woman opened the door. He gasped. She was tall. Her hair was long and blond. Her eyes were a crystal blue. She asked, "Are you okay?" "No miss." He said shivering. "I can't remember who I am. Or where I am. Could you help me?" He said in an English accent. The woman looked at him. He was obviously cold. The clothes he was wearing wouldn't last in the Alaskan weather. "Come in." She said. "Wot's your name?" "Carolynn Winchester. Yours?" "I...think...it's Pete," he answered. "That's all I can remember. That and the other name 'Katherine'." She laughed. "HAHAHA!!! I'll call you 'Pete'. Katherine is a pretty name, though." ***** Kitty Pryde and Excalibur looked at Forge, who was working hard to bring him back. Forge looked at the device. "I think that I can bring him back. According to this he was teleported about fifty years in the past." "Can you bring him back?" Kurt asked. "Yes. You don't have to worry about him altering the past." "Why?" Kitty asked. "Because he was fated to time-travel to the past. He will or did something in the past that will establish the present situation. It's a cycle that must repeat itself." Brian muttered, "I hate those things. 'Fated time travel' is so confusing. Every time that phrase is used a Summers is involved." ***** The storm started to grow. Pete and Carolynn huddled together. The storm had taken out the power and the heat. Pete showed her his flame knifes. He burned some wood in the fireplace and she was awed. "Pete, your power is incredible. Are you an alien? Or maybe related to Human Torch?" He looked down, "I don't think so. These clothes look human enough." He took out a cigarette and smoked it. Carolynn said, "What are you doing in Alaska?" He looked surprised and repeated, "Alaska?" "Yes," she answered, confused. He leaned over and kissed her. "You're beautiful." She backed off. "I'm not married." "I have amnesia. Don't worry." They kissed long and hard. ***** Kitty paced back and forth waiting for Forge to finish. "Pete Wisdom. I swear if anything happens in the past, I will never forgive you." Forge was finished and clicked on the switche. A hum emanated and Pete appeared standing on the platform naked. He shook his head and said, "Carolynn?" Kitty and the others gasped. He looked down and screamed, "WHAT THE BLOODY HELL HAPPENED?!?!" All of the X-Ladies, except for Kitty, turned as one hiding their eyes. She got out a towel and just stared. ***** "Kitty, I said that I'm sorry," Pete said as he followed her. He explained, "I had amnesia. I had no idea about who I am. I couldn't remember you." Kitty turned. She was angry but she smiled a little. "Well...you didn't remember who you were. Moira did verify the amnesia." They kissed and, the incident almost forgotten, made up. Just then Moira came in with a shocked look in her eyes. Kitty looked at her and asked, "What is it?" Moira answered, "I did a background check on this Carolynn Winchester." "And?" Pete asked. "She had a baby girl several months afterward. She got married afterwards. The baby girl's name is Katherine." Pete and Kitty stepped back. "I-I'm a father! Of a girl who was born fifty years ago?!" said Pete. Kitty stared at him. "Katherine?" "It was a name I told her. Where is she?" Moira looked down. "She's dead." Pete looked sad and Moira continued, "I did some DNA tests however. She had children before she died." Pete gasped, "I'M A BLOODY GRAMPA!!!" Kitty laughed out loud. "Pete Wisdom, a grandfather? HAHAHA!!!" Pete asked, "Who's my er...grandkids?" Moira stifled a giggle and answered, "They will be here." ***** Scott and Alex arrived soon after that and Scott asked, "What is it about, Moira?" Moira answered, "As you know, Pete time traveled fifty years in the past earlier today." Scott nodded. "Yes." She gestured with a smirk. "This is Pete Wisdom...your grandfather on your mother's side." The end
