Chapter 5

Buffy calmly walked into Giles's apartment while she hummed the wedding march song. She waved the cake topper in the air while she let the red polish dry. She took off her coat and backpack. Then she showed Spike the wedding topper. "Look honey, I put red paint on the mouth for you. Blood of the innocent pigs just for you," she teased. She stood beside Spike, and she showed him the cake topper

"Buffy, the plan to cure my blindness ... anytime soon?" Giles grumped from the couch where he was laid with a cool, wet towel over his face.

"Oh, the shop was out of Tagas Root. Should have some in tomorrow. I am totally on top of it," Buffy said in an unconcerned voice, "Missed you, honey. I ran into Riley. I told him we were getting married."

Spike pulled Buffy down into his lap. "How did he take that, luv?"

"Okay, I guess, but now he thinks I am weird and date older men. I wonder what he would have done if I had told him I knew his secret," Buffy informed her mate, even though she knew he already knew exactly what had happened. She glanced at Giles for a second before she smashed her lips to Spike's. She ran her hands up his chest into his hair, stroking the back of his neck, too.

"Secret? Would you two please, for the love of God, stop that? I can still hear you," Giles muttered.

At that moment, Xander and Anya rushed into the apartment. Spike, Buffy and Giles all jumped up to their feet, and they watched Xander grab a bookcase to manhandle in front of the door.

"Board up the windows, and barricade the doors," Xander shouted. He looked around the room for supplies so he could start the job himself.

"What's going on?" Giles demanded to know. He tried not to let his feelings of confusion show.

"Demons. They just keep coming and coming," Anya answered. She was a little out of breath and flushed from the mad dash from Xander's basement.

"I think we lost them, but I couldn't see," Xander huffed. It was then that he finally noticed where Spike was standing. "Spike's untied! Oh, guess you noticed already."

"Calm down, Xander. If you lost them, we should be okay." Buffy turned, and she rolled her eyes at Spike. They both knew the demons would catch up with them as soon as they left the apartment. "Just need some time to figure things out. Maybe this has to do with Giles being blind."

"Giles is blind?" Xander asked. He walked over to the Watcher, and he waved his hand in front of Giles' face. Xander smirked at Anya when Giles didn't even blink at the frantic hand motions.

"Please stop doing what ever you are doing, Xander. You smell like fruit rollups," Giles whined. He sank back down onto the couch.

"We need to get organized," Spike announced. He moved closer to Buffy, and he took her hand. Spike could care less that Xander and Anya both stared at him and the Slayer. He thought the slight fish look they had on their faces when they took in how Spike and Buffy were acting was downright hilarious.

"Why are you holding hands?" Anya asked. She didn't really care, but somehow she knew she would be hearing all about all about it later when she was alone with Xander. That's when she noticed Xander was still in total shock. Anya just shook her head at her idiot orgasm buddy. He had no clue that normal males couldn't deal with the sexual stamina of mature Slayers. Not that there had been very many mature Slayers in the past thousand years.

Spike and Buffy looked at each other. Buffy leaned against Spike's shoulder, and she said, "I guess we should just come out and tell you. We're getting married. Not right away. We have to wait for Dawn."

"Who? What? How? Dawn?" Xander stammered. He had finally overcome the biggest part of his shock. Xander didn't like what he was seeing. There was no way Buffy would pick another member of the undead society. Would she?

"All good questions," Giles muttered from the couch. He was glad he wasn't the only one that noticed something was amiss with Buffy.

"I love you, Spike." Buffy rose on her tiptoes to press her mouth against Spike's. She wrapped her arms around her vampire's neck, and she lost herself in his kiss.

"Oh God, not again" Giles groaned.

"Ewwww, can I be blind, too?" Xander shouted. He slapped his hands over his eyes.

"Wow, you guys are hot." Anya practically drooled.

"Wait a minute. Hold on ... married. Oh yeah, I know something! It's familiar. Come on brain, work ... oh, oh, Willow...." Xander slapped his forehead with the palm of his hand several times.

Buffy broke off the kiss with Spike. Dang spell, she couldn't concentrate. She wantedto jump Spike right here in Giles' living room, or it could be Spike's kisses that made her feel that way. "Willow? What about Willow?"

"Just something about Willow and her mood swings. Kinda tired of it," replied Xander.

Anya asked indignantly, "So I don't have to be nice to her anymore?"

"We are all tired of it, guys, but what does this have to do with anything?" Buffy questioned. She couldn't wait to get the spell over with.

"Oh, she said I was a demon magnet and you should marry Spike," Xander answered. He was happy that he finally figured out what his mind was so desperately trying to find.

"She told me I couldn't see anything," Giles commented. He wished that he and Spike hadn't finished the last of the scotch earlier. Bloody vamp wasn't even the slightest bit sloshed.

"She did a spell," Buffy announced, "But I am the Slayer. So, I bet I have some sort of natural immunity." She mentally rolled her eyes at Spike, and she heard a chuckle in reply. Buffy couldn't believe what a kick the vampire was getting out of the spell this time around.

"We need to find her before someone gets hurt," Xander said.

Spike and Buffy grabbed their jackets. The two couples exited the apartment. This left Giles alone on the couch where he hoped that nothing would sneak up on him.
