Subject: [OTL]: [Sc] [Kara, Obelix] Date: Sat, 14 Jul 2001 00:21:35 +0200 From: Oberon Kara and Obelix He really is impossible, Kara thought. Thankfully he had abandoned his plans for a menhir empire, but now instead he was obsessed with his studies. It was as if somehow his brain had suddenly realized how starved it had been on sheer learning. After all it wasn't as if he was stupid, he was just so used to Asterix having been the smart one that had all the knowledge. Once the dimunitive warrior had dissapeared out of the picture for good Obelix had had to start thinking for himself. Even if he had Kara now, she refused to be his mind and insisted that he make his own decisions and take the consequences. It was really the same thing as with the fighting... He just had to be presented with a more real world and he had grown. The first fight he had gotten into here he had almost killed five men with his superior strength and then cried for a week in shame. The rules that governed this place where different, and in time he had come to accept that. She knew it had been hard for him, and still he mumbeled in his sleep about that horrible snapping feeling under his fists. They didn't really get that where he came from. The romans had just went for a quick bird's-eye-view of the surrounding area and then landed in a mostly un-injured heap. Here... People died. He hit them with barely the force to shatter a small rock and they would turn into thin red mist. And so with consequences had come control. With control had come the thinking before acting. And Kara had found out that once he was started Obelix was not bad at thinking at all. She smiled fondly at his towering shape bent over the desk. Once consequences had kicked in he had started loosing weight as well. And she had to admitt that the new sleeker version looked a LOT better in black leather pants even if she had insisted he keep out of a shirt. Or even worse for a while he had thought about emulating Hercules leather vest wich should have been bad. Admittedly if there was something to be said for carrying menhirs around, it DID give a rather nice toning and to the shoulder-muscles. And she so loved those shoulders. Not to mention that with Obelix resilence he was probably one of the few men alive that could take her sleepy hugs without breaking. A small smile played on her lips for a moment and then she glided out of the room a few inches above the carpet not to disturb him in his studies. It wasn't really that he got mad about it, almost the other way around. But he was so driven that she knew that a few minutes of talk now would make sure he stayed up another thirty minutes working later on. And while none of them where youths anymore, some things where kept on a better than just healthy level due to the potion he fell in as a child. Odd really how they fit so well together, her from such an advanced culture as Krypton and him from some 50 b.c. in this world. But then again, HIS roman empire had been a lot more modern than most modern people around here anyway. With a small smile she wrapped her cloak over his shoulders... Even if he insisted on falling asleep in the chair at the least he would be warm.
