Subject: [OTL]: [SC] [Kara/Obelix] Tempus fugita omnis... Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 12:18:49 +0200 From: Oberon In the end it was foretold and had to be. Nothing really lasts, not even the sweetness of what should have been eternal. As it is often said. "Autumn love is rich, with a plentiful harvest even if not with all the grandeur of spring love." But it is also the love with the least time. Autumn is short before it moves into winter where the trees no longer bear any promise but just stand as start black shadows against the white snow. Once free from the bonds of the creators, fictives start to age. And they need to find their own bonds to the world to keep on to life. Much as their human counterparts they will laugh, and cry and live and die after their own fate and most consider this to be worth it. Occasionally though, things go wrong in one way or the other. Someone will pick up the discarded yarn and unravel a whole web of things for the ones that are left behind. This is what happends when the Retcon strikes and that which is dead is not allowed to rest in peace. Kara's scream of Anguish had blown the windowpanes out of a hundred windows when she was torn back to what had once been her life, forced to leave behind her husband and her home for so many years. Obelix's reaction had been worse. It was the second time now he had been deprived of all that mattered to him. The heavy slam of fists grown even harder and stronger with the passing year almost surpassed the rage of the drunken Supermen brawling next block. The second blow was heavier. Sending the asphalt rippling and even making the brawlers flip end over end. And then suddenly there was nothing as the aging fighter was no longer there he, too torn away by the powers of the Retcon and new continuation. For it is an old truth in the world of fictives that there is no such thing as permanent death until it has been confirmed but everyone in the world of mortals forgetting. A new breath of life into the industry. Many of the aging fictives would consider this a good thing, a new chance at youth and adventure to break the tedium of awaiting death as it slowly creeps up on them. Others see it as the end of something new and carefully forged. And yet others... Will bloom, knowing that seeing their old friends they thought gone again, it is but temporary and in the end once they are put down again, there will be something new to wait for them. And in two different worlds, both Kara and Obelix wait and dream of a future where they will meet again, both young in body and spirit once more. - Adam
