South 75 Epilogue Shai PeriHawk I was back in my khaki shorts and tank-top, clean and refreshed from several hours of dreamless sleep. I stared out from the roof of the *Pentagon* to the bright lights of DC. I had to get six kinds of security clearance to even *get* up here. I was there to escape, so the *last* person I wanted to see was Storm Shadow. He didn't seem to notice that I was ignoring him as he sat down beside me. "Were you in the military?" he asked, pointing to the warped dog tags on a ball-chain around my neck. I shrugged. "Dunno." Didn't know if the woman I was copied from had been. "Your fingerprints were on record with the FBI." I gasped and looked up at him. "Who- What- How-" I couldn't form a coherent thought. "All that was in the file was the name Ana Lyon and quite a few false arrest warrants. Quite obviously tampered with. We have no way of telling if any of it is correct.," he explained quietly. I suddenly felt very tired. I really wished Storm Shadow had left me behind with Zartan and those slighly less than sane twins. It all seemed so pointless. He shifted beside me. "You wonder why I would not leave you behind," he said. I said nothing. "I have observed you for many days, in a situation where most people would crumple or turn to hate. I have also heard your story. I will not tell you that you could not have done the things you think. I do not know the person you were, I know the person you are." He paused. "The person you are is the only one that counts." He got to his feet like a tired old man, and left me to my thoughts. End South 75 ===== Peace Love and All That Jazz Shaianne K. PeriHawk
