Subject: Onslaught: Redemption Chapter Seven News and Notes Date: Sat, 16 Nov 96 07:27:35 +0000 From: Swpwarrior@aol.com Hello, people! First off, thank you for your continuing patience as I turn out Onslaught: Redemption at a somewhat slow (okay a VERY slow) pace. Needless to say, I just finished my brief last Monday, gave oral arguments on Tuesday and have been working feverishly to complete this Chapter ever since. The result was the longest Chapter to date (no, it's not your imagination, each Chapter IS longer than the last) and consequently was divided into four parts. Since I feel that's just way too much text to unload on my readers at one time, I'm doing something I've never done before and am breaking up their release. Here are the first two Parts. The next two will hit you early next week after I finish edits! I went ahead and included my citation list for these two parts (seen below), though I'm planning to include the full citation list for Chapter Seven at the end of Part Four. For those of you interested, my schedule is roughly this: I will make every effort to complete Chapter Eight (The conclusion!) by the start of my Finals on December 9th and then will complete the story's Epilogue (Chapter Nine) during Christmas Break. Needless to say Terry Kavanaugh's "Rise of Apocalypse" series has me literally running over with ideas for the follow-up to O:R... "The Fall of..." Well that would be telling. Suffice it say I am chopping at the bit to get to work on that one...and can't way to have my first Fan-Fic "in the can." Again, thank you to every one who has E-Mailed me over this story for your invaluable comments, criticisms, insights, and questions. KEEP THEM COMING!!!! Special Thanks this Chapter to Andy Grant for his research help for The Marvel Heroes... This is _their_ Chapter. As per usual.... This is my first attempt at an extended fan-fic. I hope you enjoy it. Any comments or criticisms or questions would be greatly appreciated. What do you like? What don't you like? Give me feedback!!! The story is written in Plot and Script form rather than a literary narrative to build my own experience. This story features the X-Men and related characters, which are trademarks of Marvel Comics. This is an unauthorized work and no profit is being made on this work. This work is copyright of me. --------- The Story Thus Far: 40 years ago at the Almagordo Nuclear Research Facility, three scientists are assigned by the government to conduct a covert project on the research of genetic mutations for the purpose of creating new supersoldiers for the military. Project Xavier is born. 10 years later, a nine year old boy spawned by the project goes on a murderous rampage, ended only by an atomic detonation no one seems to remember. Only one man remembers what he saw... Mr. Sinister. 30 years later, dying from the Legacy Virus, Sinister discovers the precise moment our timeline diverges from The Day's Of Future's Past, and that it coincides with the reemergence of this boy as the near omnipotent psionic Onslaught. Seeking to redeem himself in the eyes of his son Adam before his death, Sinister enlists the aid of Rachel Summers and the Askani, only to discover that in so doing he has set into motion a chain of events already evidenced in our timeline... and that Sinister himself was the founder and inspiration for the Askani. Now as the moment approaches, Onslaught has begun his reign of terror across the globe. Sinister has gathered his forces. And a militant human extremist group known as Operation: Zero Tolerance has begun to ensure that -- even if mankind must begin again -- mutantkind will perish from this Earth. All three sides poised against each other, with the X-Men tragically caught in the middle. One X-Man fated to betray them. One X-Man fated to save them. One X-Man fated to lead them. And one child, delivered by time, ready to unleash the most devastating force known to man to forever alter the future -- end all the future timeline's -- and save mankind from its greatest enemy... itself. A millennium spanning conspiracy whose final act has yet to be written... Onslaught: Redemption. [2] The Soviet's completion of their own Super-Soldier program in the form of Arkady Rossovich's transformation into Omega Red with the aid of the Carbodnadium Synthesizer, 30 years ago in East Berlin, was revealed in X-Men #6. [3] Logan met Captain America and a young Black Widow in Mandripoor just prior to World War II in 1941, in a rip-roaring adventure told in Uncanny X-Men #268. The existence of Captain America's war-journal was also revealed in Captain America #255. [4] Nathaniel Essex; Mr. Sinister, revealed the existence of the of the gene which causes mutation -- and promptly named it the "Essex Factor" -- before a meeting of the Royal Society in London in 1859 as told in "The Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix" #1. [5] Silver Fox, Mastadon, Maverick, Wraith, Logan, and Creed were all revealed to be original test subjects of the Weapon X project in Wolverine #50. Brian Xavier's hand in the Weapon X project was revealed on the last page of X-Men #13, when his name along with those of Alexander Ryking and Kurt Marko appeared as authors of a "Shiva Scenario Committee Evaluation Report." Shiva was the security device placed on the Weapon X program as revealed in Wolverine #50. [6] Maverick revealed that he no longer "had" his mutant power in X-Men #10 and #11. [7] Operation: Rebirth was the code-name given to Dr. Abraham Erskine's project to develop the Super-Soldier Serum. Project: Super-Soldier was the code-name given to General Phillips' efforts to turn Steve Rogers into the perfect fighting man prior to World War II. Both were revealed in Captain America #255. Project: Xavier was the codename given to a covert government program for the study of genetic mutation at the Almagordo Nuclear Research Facility, 40 years ago, as revealed in X-Men #12. In X-Men #13, Dr.'s Brian Xavier, Kurt Marko, and Alexander Ryking were described as "Super Scientists for a Super New Breed of Humans." [8] General Phillips was in charge of both Operation: Rebirth and Project: Super-Soldier and worked as Steve Rogers personal mentor and friend in his development into Captain America, as revealed in Captain America #255. Major Barrington is the unnamed G-2, Army intelligence officer who reported the information of Project: Super-Soldier personally to President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II in Captain America #255. [9] Master-Sergeant William Stryker, U.S. Army Rangers murdered his wife and new-born mutant infant after being stationed in the desert more than 30 years ago while on special assignment at a military nuclear test program as revealed in the graphic novel; "X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills." [10] Carter Ryking is the mutant son born to Dr. Alexander almost 40 years at Almagordo and was Charles Xavier's childhood friend as revealed in X-Men #13. When confronted by the X-Men at Almagordo he bid them welcome, "Welcome X-Men! Welcome children of the atom! Welcome to where your origins began!" When asked by Charles Xavier what his own father, Dr. Brian Xavier, was involved in, he answered plainly, "Pain! He was involved in pain! The pain of giving life! And the pleasure of taking it!" [11] Nate Grey met Charles on The Astral Plane for the first time in X-Man #10, and instantly distrusted him. [12] Karma's younger brother and sister, Leong and Nga were kidnapped during the Mutant Massacre and despite Karma's every effort to find them, they have remained missing...until now. Subject: Onslaught: Redemption Update Date: Sun, 1 Dec 96 20:30:15 +0000 From: Swpwarrior@aol.com First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving (I don't ever want to see another Pumpkin Pie again in my life)! Second, I've hit major time constraints over the last week due to Evidence and Con Law outlining. That's left me behind in the story (Seven has been completed, but I rewrote portions of it I didn't like and am still not satisfied with it) and responding to letters (I will include the letter column when I post the remaining parts of Seven). I sincerly apologize to everyone for the delay and just a reminder that my Christmas Break is less than three weeks away. Other than that, here's Part Three. Citations for Part Three are below... Let me know what you think! CITATIONS [14] The widely noted "disturbance on the Astral Plane" was described by Professor Xavier in Cable #23, “for several weeks now, someone or something has been creating a psionic disturbance on the astral plane.” [15] The existence of an "age-suppression" factor developed by the Weapon X project which enabled ordinary humans to resist the aging process (as exemplified by Project members; Professor, Dr. Cornelius, and Carol Hines) was revealed in Wolverine #50. [16] The long existing colony of hundreds of hideously deformed mutants living beneath the subway tunnels of New York City was revealed in Uncanny X-Men #168. [17] The origins of The Morlocks as failed experiments, dating decades back, was revealed by The Dark Beast in the X-Men: Prime special. [18] The unexplained, mass slaughter of the Morlock colony by Mr. Sinister's Marauders during the "The Mutant Massacre" storyline (in Uncanny X-Men #210 - 213) occurred shortly after The Morlocks first began making their presence known to the outside world; first Caliban in Uncanny X-Men #148, then the tribe as a whole in Uncanny X-Men #168. [19] The surviving Morlocks committed a mass suicide in Uncanny X-Men #293. [20] As a result of brain damage suffered during his fall from his father's plane (as revealed in Classic X-Men #42), and later aggravated by Sinister's probing of Scott's mind during his resultant coma (as revealed during the "Inferno" storyline), Scott lost all memories of his mother and father and his life prior to waking up in The State Home for Foundlings orphanage in Sage, Nebraska where he spent the remainder of his childhood alone. [21] When confronted with the truth that his son Scott was still alive, Christopher Summers (Corsair) inexplicably decided it was best Scott and Alex still believe him dead in Uncanny X-Men #109. [22] Annie Richardson was the childhood best friend of Jean Grey while growing up in Annendale, New York (as seen in Uncanny X-Men #322). After being struck by a passing car, Jean's telepathic powers instinctively reached into Annie's mind in an effort to soothe her passing. Jean, however, was unable to pull out of Annie's mind before experiencing her death with her, leaving her in a severe catatonic state before being "cured" by Professor Xavier as told in Bizarre Adventures #27. [23] Havok was last seen being kept unconscious in a stasis chamber by The Dark Beast in X-Factor #124, just before Onslaught struck. [24] While flying together from their home in Alaska, the Summers family was attacked by an alien Shi'ar cruiser, resulting in Christopher and Kate Summers kidnapping by the Shi'ar, while Scott and Alex plunged to the Earth in a flaming parachute as told in the back-up story of Classic X-Men #15.
