"And then she said she was mentally linked t' me, to insure her loyalty."

The gathered forces of Excalibur laughed.

"Ach, A wonder whatever could have given the lass an idea like tha' one?"
Moira asked with a grin.  She didn't notice Rahne shifting shape slightly to
hide her blush.

They were all seated in various positions about the living room, where they
had gathered after Moira and the rest of the crew had gotten back from the pub.

"So," Kurt finally asked the question that had been on everybody's mind
since hearing the story.  "Where is Valerie, anyway?"

"Oh," Kitty stalled.  "Well, she.... Why don't YOU tell them, Pete?"

"She, er, decided to... go back to the states.  Wanted to go home."

"Yeah.  That's what she did."  Kitty and Pete glanced at each other, and
then back at Excalibur.  "Exactly."

"Oh."  Moira looked moderately confused.  "Well, A suppose tha's for tha best,"

"Yes!"  Pete agreed a bit to quickly.

"But I don't see why she didn't wait to say goodbye...."

"She had to catch an early flight."  Kitty answered.

"We could have flown--"

"She didn't want to be a nuisance."

Kitty and Pete were now nodding emphatically.

Moira shrugged.  "Alright then, guess it's too late now.... A suggest we all
go get a good night's sleep."  She yawned.  "And tomorrow morning, A don't
want to have to deal with any more insane rescue attempts, do ye hear me?"

Kitty smiled and looked at Pete.  "Oh, I don't think you have to worry about
that...."
