Due to the number of requests I received after No Happy Endings, here is a sequel. If you haven't read the other one, I suggest you do, otherwise you may be a bit confused by this one. Disclaimer: All the characters in this story belong to Marvel. The plot is mine. I'm making no money off of this. Some Time Alone by Twist +++++++++ Kitty Pryde stood in front of the cell where the man she had formerly loved sat, his head in his hands. Unbeknownst to her, Pete Wisdom had left her at the door, realizing that this was something she needed to do on her own. She said nothing, merely stood and stared in disgust and disbelief. It was a full five minutes before Piotr looked in her direction. "My Katya! Have you come to--" "Piotr Nikoleivitch Rasputin. I am *not*, nor was I *ever* ‘your Katya'. There was a time when I could have been, but you gave it up, and that is *over* now. Your actions against a man you do not even know proved that." "Katya, that man--" "Just happened to be my boyfriend. He loved me, and I--" at this Kitty choked slightly, but quickly recovered. "I loved him." Even as she said the words, she realized they were true. Although she and Pete had never said it aloud to one another, it was true. "Loved....?" "Yes, Piotr, loved. It was deeper, and purer, than anything you could have *ever* understood. And you killed it. A man is *dead*... because you never bothered to think about anything but your wounded pride and manhood." "But... Katya... I *care* for--" "*NO!* If you had *ever* cared for *anything* in your life, Pete Wisdom would be alive right now." Piotr simply stared back up at her, uncomprehending. "My God, just look at you. Do you even have the least bit of compassion, of *regret* for what you've done? You just destroyed a man whose only mistake was being in love, and you don't even realize you've done anything wrong. The others may be willing to give you a second chance, but not me. I swear to you, Piotr Nikoleivitch Rasputin, that as long as I live, I will never be able to trust you or care for you again. I'm beginning to wonder if I ever did." With that, Kitty turned, knowing that was probably the last words she'd ever say to him. It was a comforting thought. Pete watched her carefully as she stepped through the doorway to the room where Piotr was being held. One glance at her face showed that she had made peace with herself concerning the villain. Now it was his turn. As he stepped over the threshold, he was startled to realize that he could see the man's every emotion emanating from his body. He was not surprised to find that the dominant one was sorrow, not for what he'd done, but for his current position. "My Katya." the Russian said. "I am sorry." "So am I." replied Pete. "For not frying your ass when I had the chance." With that said, he produced a single hot knife, now a manifestation of anger and hatred, and shot it directly into the Russian's head. Needless to say, Piotr would not be sleeping well that night. The End. +++++++++ Thanks to everyone who replied to the last one. I'd love to hear what you think of this.
