Supplication
My lord, my love, I beg you, stay no more!
Your warm embrace I cherish and abhor,
For though you fill my life with boundless joy,
Yet soon your presence may my life destroy.
Your brother lays about him with his sword
While I gaze on your visage so adored,
Nor see nor care what damage he may do.
Then shall we wait until his task be through?
Go hence, and send to dwell within my mind
Your sibling, who, though cruel, may yet be kind.
Then, with desire to make me stronger-willed,
The wreckage I'll endeavour to rebuild.
Yet, lest should come your sister with her ring,
Return at times to soothe and heal her sting.
